The basis behind Sport Science has always been to show that not only is playing sports an extremely complex human ability, but there is a lot more that goes into it than we assume on the surface. Hitting a ball is more than just blindly swinging the ball. It’s all about timing, force and much more. The show on ESPN has always done a good job explaining the science in layman’s terms and visually guiding the viewer through the process. This all translates well to Disney XD’s primarily tween audience, giving them a slate of scientific experiments testing middle school science subjects like the laws of gravity, momentum, speed and so on.
