A Passionate Woman is a drama series written by Kay Mellor. The story is set during the 1950s and 1980s in Britain. The story is based on a true story and follows Betty who is a housewife and a mother whose life changes forever after she meets a handsome Polish man at a local dance.

The story moves on thirty years and it is the 1980s. Betty has never told anyone how she had planned to leave her husband and run off with Craze before his murder. Betty is now very close to her son and isn't looking forward to his impending marriage and a life alone with Donald. Following an unexpected revelation the consequences of Betty's past are revealed and Betty is shocked when Moira shows up at her door. Betty finds herself with some difficult decisions to make.
