The pilot aired way back in 1998 with Kate Islitt in the role of Russell's wife Susanna Boyd. When the BBC finally decided to make a series out of the pliot, Kate Isitt was working on Coupling, and Simone Bendix took over the role of Susanna Boyd in the short series.
