Still troubled by the events surrounding the murder of her best friend Lilly Kane, Veronica Mars returns to Neptune High for the start of her junior year. Veronica has to deal with the wrath of Weevil when she helps the new kid in town, sophomore Wallace Fennel, down from the school's flagpole he’s been duct-taped to. To save Wallace from further torture from Weevil and his biker buddies, Veronica strikes up a deal to help them out. She devises an intricate plan that helps the gang avoid trouble with the law. Veronica also discovers unsettling information about her mother, who abandoned Veronica and her father a year ago, while pursuing a case of adultery against billionaire Jake Kane.

Episode Notes |
| |
In an interview with U TV on September 22, 2006 Percy Daggs III admitted he was concerned what the the African American commuity's view would be about Walalce being naked and taped on a pole with a majority white group looking at him. After seeking out advice, and soul searching he went ahead with the scene, giving his character a chance to come out of something humiliating with dignity and grace.

Episode Quotes |
| |
Veronica: So what are you doing sitting here?
Wallace: You sat next to me
Veronica: This is my table.
Wallace: And what a fine table it is. What do you suppose it's made of, oak? | Veronica: I used to think I knew what tore our family apart. Now I'm sure I don't. But I promise this, I will find out what really happened. And I will bring this family back together again. I'm sorry, is that mushy? Well, you know what they say. Veronica Mars, she's a marshmellow. |

Cultural References |
| |
Fire chief: (talking to Veronica) Well if it isn't Smokey the barely legal.
A reference to Smokey the bear and his famous slogan "Remember - Only YOU can prevent forest fires!" | Sheriff Lamb: You need to go see the wizard. Ask him for some guts.
Sherrif Lamb: Why don't you go see the wizard? Ask him for a spine?
Weevil: "And your little dog, too!"
These are both references to L. Frank Baum's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz". Each of the four characters hoped to visit the wizard and receive some item the character felt he (or she) needed. Specifically, the Cowardly Lion sought courage from the sage.
"And your little dog, too!" was a line memorably uttered by the Wicked Witch in her pronouncment of doom upon Dorothy and her companions. | Wallace: Hey, FloJo, slow your ass down.
FloJo is the nickname of Florence Griffith Joyner, a famous American sprinter who is also the world records holder for the 100m and 200m dash | Keith: It’s up and at ‘em, Atom Ant, come on
This was the catchphrase of the 1965 Hanna-Barbera cartoon of the same name, Atom Ant. | Logan: Guess what? Daddy took the T-Bird away. And guess what I won't be having? Fun, fun, fun.
Logan is cleverly paraphrasing the lyrics from "Fun, fun, fun" by the Beach Boys to describe the reason he's currently pissed at Veronica. |
