When Ellenor is reluctant to defend a client, Ray McMurphy (Giancarlo Esposito), he decides to act "pro se," that is, as his own attorney. Wary of that strategy, Ellenor wants nothing to do with McMurphy's trial, but has no choice when Judge Mantz (Rene Auberjonois) orders her to assist him as standby counsel. Meanwhile, Bobby copes with the mental damage caused by his physical assault.
