Episode Notes

NBC won the half hour for the 18 - 34 age group, with a total of 7.6 million people who tuned in to the episode.

The fire truck says "Bureau of Fire, Scranton, PA" on its side, just like the real trucks from Scranton. However, it also says truck number 254, but Scranton does not have a truck 254.

The alarm sequence (with the exception of Steve running down the hall on the surveillance camera) was all done in one take with two cameras.

Episode Quotes

Dwight: Would that make you happy?
Michael: What?
Dwight: If you had your phone... would that make you happy?
Michael: Yeah...
Dwight: I'm on it! (Runs into the building)
Michael: No! Dwight... Okay, he is an idiot. He is an idiot!
Kevin: What if he dies in the fire, and that's the last thing you've ever said to him?
Michael: I didn't say it to him, I said it about him.

Dwight: Question, is there firewood on the island?
Jim: I guess.
Dwight: Then I would bring an ax, no books.
Jim: It has to be a book, Dwight.
Dwight: Fine, Physician's Desk Reference...
Jim: Fine, smart.
Dwight: ...hollowed out. Inside: waterproof matches, iodine tablets, beet seeds, protein bars, NASA blanket and, in case I get bored, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. No, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Question, did my shoes come off in the plane crash?

Dwight: Uh, I have an announcement. Apparently, in business school, they don't teach you how to operate a toaster oven. Because some smart, sexy temp left his cheese pita on 'oven' instead of timing it for the toaster thing.

Episode Goofs

We see Toby coming out with his coffee mug. But in the entire time people are heading out the door, we never see him in the office. The only person that comes from the back is Kelly.

Cultural References

Michael: Bad idea... bad idea jeans.

This is a reference to a skit performed on Saturday Night Live from the early 1990s.

Dwight: (Singing) Ryan started the fire...

Dwight's song is being sung to the tune of "We Didn't Start The Fire" by Billy Joel.

Michael: Much advice do you seek... Do you know who that was?
Ryan: Uh, Fozzie Bear?

These are references to the character Fozzie from The Muppet Show, and Yoda from the Star Wars films, both of which were voiced by Jim Henson, and later Frank Oz.

Audio: Michael's ringtone

Michael's cell phone plays the tune "Mambo No. 5" from one-hit wonder Lou Bega.

Michael: I'm like... Mr. Miyagi and Yoda, rolled into one.

Mr. Miyagi was a character from the 1984 film, The Karate Kid. He was played by Pat Morita.
