Kristen nervously prepares for her father, Caleb's, birthday party, and is thrown off when she meets his new girlfriend, Gabrielle. After constant criticism from Caleb about Ryan, the Newport Group, and his party, Sandy suggests to Kirsten that they move away from this life and return to the life they had before moving to Newport. Later, Caleb turns Jimmy down for a job, but becomes increasingly interested in Julie. Meanwhile, Seth's years of dreaming finally become a reality when he and Summer share their first kiss, and Ryan has to fend off Gabrielle's advances.

Episode Quotes |
| |
Gabrielle: You must think it's weird, me being with an older guy.
Ryan: I live in a poolhouse. | Seth: It's fate, it's destiny. Look, they both have burritos.
Ryan: Wanna eat somewhere else?
Seth: (oblivious) Who's winning, me or my hair? | Seth: You hooked up with my grandma? Actually that's kinda hot. | Sandy: Are we worried your dad won't love us if we don't feed him enough?
Kirsten: Alright, starting now, no more digs at my dad.
Sandy: Oh no, that wasn't a dig. Seth, was that a dig?
Seth: No. When you called him a heartless bastard, that was a dig.
Sandy: You sold me out. | Kirsten: Maybe you guys can make peace this weekend.
Sandy: Okay. Oh no, no wait. I can't. I'm still Jewish.
Kirsten: (Gives him a dirty look)
Sandy: Just gettin' it out of my system, I promise.
Kirsten: I wonder what his new girlfriend's like.
Sandy: I am sure she is very well paid.
Kirsten: (Gives him a dirty look)
Sandy: I am on fire. | Gabrielle: I'm being sarcastic.
Seth: Ah. Yes, we don't get a lot of that around here. | Seth: He has no idea that every day of third grade, you shared your lunch with that little skinny squirrel who kept getting his nuts stolen by that fat squirrel.
Summer: I hated that mean squirrel. | Gabrielle: Fifth grade? Okay, she needs to change that. She's known that guy since he's been eating paste.
Seth: I think he still does. |
