Another essentially fill-in episode. Can't say as I liked Jane's techniques in this one, they seem out of character for him, given what has happened to him, and in general a bit cruel.
Spoiler commentary:
In particular, given what happened to him with his family, provoking a known killer and "ex" mob boss seems highly -- and I do mean highly -- questionable behavior. Jane grasps, even if he did not before his family passed away, that provoking a killer is not a good idea. Innocent people can get harmed as a result.
I really like the show's premise, and the show's characters are, for the most part, well structured in their basis, but all too often the plot threads seem trite and hackneyed, and the actual character development based on cheap and shoddy writing.
Don't get me wrong, the show is still good, but it seems to me capable of being far, far better... which renders it slightly disappointing, though somewhat enjoyable.

I enjoyed the episode. I agree that some of the plot lines seem a bit gimmicky, and the show often makes me wonder if it really only takes a matter of seconds to hypnotize someone, but all in all I get a kick out of it. Oh, and I loved Jane's gift for Lisbon. Good stuff. |

I've actually taken the time to learn about the process(though I have never learned to do it), and, depending on how receptive you are, in quiet conditions it can be done fairly easily. There is some serious misinformation about what it's capable of floating around, including in the show, of course. |
