The guys are playing a computer game, but are interrupted when they hear Penny laughing across the hall. But Leonard is in for a shocking discovery when he sees hear kissing with another guy. Trying to recover from the shock, Howard advices Leonard to date Leslie Winkle, one of the co-workers at the lab. Leonard agrees to do so, but things only get worse for him when Leslie turns him down. However, after Sheldon somehow manages to build up Leonard's self-confidence, Leonard tricks Penny into going on a date with him, but Leonard has a panic attack right before the date and it might ruin what was supposed to be a nice, romantic evening.

| Ignoring the fact that the sword itself doesn't exist, in the beginning of the episode, Sheldon abandons his friends to sell the "sword of Azeroth" on eBay. This is actually possible and normal (for geeks) to do and it's also legal to sell such game items.
| The title ("The Fuzzy Boots Corollary") refers to one of the names Leonard would use for some cats in San Diego he heard about. He says he can't decide between "Einstein", "Newton" and "Sergeant Fuzzy Boots".

At the beginning of the episode, Sheldon sells "the Sword of Azeroth" on eBay. However, after only 4 seconds, he claims someone (later revealed Howard) just clicked "Buy It Now". This isn't possible on eBay, however, as items get listed in their database about an hour after it's added. Another problem is that there is NO WAY that any person is able to find the specific entry, go through all the procedures of purchasing and waiting for the transaction to be completed within the 4 seconds until Sheldon says the button's been clicked.

Visual: The guys are playing a multiplayer online game working as a team, though they are on their own individual computers.
The game the guys are playing have several references to "World of Warcraft", which is a multiplayer online role-playing game made by Blizzard Entertainment. However, Howard specifically says "The Sword of Azeroth". "Azeroth" are three different continents in the game, but there is no such thing as a "sword of Azeroth" existing in the game.

"Second Life" (often abbreviated "SL") is a virtual world created by Linden Lab, and was released on June 23, 2003. In the game, you first create an avatar for yourself and then you go exploring the virtual world, which is in many ways just like real life. "Residents" (the name for users) can do anything you can do in real life, like participate in activities, create and trade virtual properties and services with other residents and, just as in Sheldon's example, go swimming.

The Hubble Space Telescope (often abbreviated "HST") is a telescope in space that was carried into orbit by the space shuttle in April 1990. The Hubble is not the first space telescope, but it is the largest and most versatile one, and it is named after Edwin Hubble, an American astronomer.
