Episode Quotes |

Sam: So how'd you pay for that stuff? You and dad still running credit card scams?
Dean: Well, yeah. Hunting ain't exactly a profitable career. Besides, all we do is apply. It's not our fault they send us the cards. | Sam: Dad let you go on a hunting trip by yourself?
Dean: Dude, I'm 26. | Sam: Hey Dean. What I said earlier, about Mom and Dad, I'm sorry.
Dean: No chick flick moments.
Sam: Alright ... jerk.
Dean: Bitch. | Sam: When I told Dad I was afraid of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45. | Sam: No. Whatever you wanna say you can say it in front of her.
Dean: Dad's on a hunting trip and he hasn't been home in a few days.
Sam: Jess, excuse us, we have to go outside | Dean: Nice work, Sammy.
Sam: (painful laughing) Yeah, wish I could say the same for you. What were you thinking shooting Casper in the face, you freak?
Dean: Hey, saved your ass! | Dean: So, what are you gonna do? You just gonna live some normal, apple pie life? Is that it?
Sam: No, not normal. Safe. | Sheriff: So, fake U.S. Marshall. Fake credit cards. You got anything that's real?
Dean: My boobs. | Sam: You smell like a toilet. | Dean: That Constance chick ... what a bitch! |

There is no way that Sam could have pin-pointed his father's location to a town in Colorado with only the degrees. | During one scene, Constance's suicide is said to have occured on April 25, 1981. However, when Dean and Sam are looking up information about her death, they pull up the archive files from April 25, 1971. |

Analysis |

Woman in White
The episode is based on the folklore story of La Llorona that has taken on several forms, from The Woman in White to Weeping Woman, in different cultures. In the episode, the woman targets unfaithful women to kill, but in several variations of the tale, the Woman in White targets who don't treat their families well. More about the tale can be found here. | Vanishing Hitchhikers
The episode is loosely based on the vanishing hitchhiker phenomenon in which travelers meet a hitchhiker that vanishes without a trace. Though the episode focuses on the Woman in White, elements from this phenomenon are incorporated into the episode. | Mary and Jessica
During the episode there are several parallels between Mary Winchester, the brothers' mother, and Sam's girlfriend, Jessica. The were both killed by the same evil spirit, and each time, blood drops from the victim fell on Sam's face. It is later seen that Jessica died on the 22 year anniversary of Mary's death. |
