The SGC receives an IDC from SG-1, but it’s before they are suppose to be back. The team arrives, and then another duplicate SG-1 team arrives, this time, on time. Then several more duplicate SG-1 teams arrives. Carter believes the duplicate teams are from parallel universes. However, one of the duplicate teams seems to have an ulterior motive and a plan. Episode Notes

This episode marks the first appearances of Martouf (JR Bourne) and Dr. Janet Fraiser (Teryl Rothery) on the series since their deaths in "Divide and Conquer" and "Heroes, Part 2" respectively.

Michael Shanks (Daniel), Christopher Judge (Teal'c), Lexa Doig (Dr. Lam) and JR Bourne (Martouf) all previously appeared in the Andromeda episode "Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath" together. They played Remiel, Hector, Andromeda and Fleet Marshal William Ataturk respectively.

The convergence point between universes was created by the "black uniform" SG-1, whom were the first to come through. Their purpose was to hijack the Prometheus and go to Atlantis, and steal its ZPM, and take it back to their universe in order to use the weapon in Antarctica, possibly to defend against the Ori.

This episode marks the final appearance of Teryl Rothery (Janet Fraiser) on the series.

Episode Quotes

Landry: Tell me about the planet.
Mitchell: Well, we can confirm that the locals were visited by a prior, about two weeks ago. He performed the standard miracles. Healed the sick, cured the blind and passed out the usual literature.

Mitchell: Did she just say "we?"
Carter: Pardon me?
Daniel: She said "we." You said "we?!"
Carter: Ah! Ah, me and myself, I suppose. The other Samantha Carter.

Landry: I'm willing to make the occasional exception, but I'm not about turning this base into the Grand Central Station of the multiverse. Dismissed!

Mitchell: (whispering to Sam) You know what? Read it, ehm, mission reports on the Asgard. They're not what I expected.
Sam: What were you expecting?
Mitchel: Well, pants for one.

Mitchell: How did you know I wasn't your Mitchell?
Carter: Easy. If we were in your position, we would've done the same thing.
Mitchell: Let me get this straight. We figured that you guys would try to escape and set this trap for you. Not realizing that you'd figure out that we figure you out and you set your own.
(Carter and Daniel look at each other)
(Camera angle changes to Mitchell and Teal'c; Teal'c is looking away, obviously thinking about that, too...)
Teal'c: Indeed.

Landry: But we've had teams gate in from locations on the other side
of that black hole in our universe…why weren't they affected?
Mitchell: One more stupid question.
(Landry looks at Mitchell)
Mitchell: Oh…sir yours was fine…mine is stupid.

Mitchell: Hey Mitchell…when the time comes…cut the green one.

Mitchell: What are the odds?
Kvasir (voice): Less than 12%, and that is provided you are able to enact the plan before the black hole's gravity decimates your ship…
Mitchell: Damn, that's cold.

Walter: Sir, it's SG-1's IDC. Again.

Kvasir: The perilous nature of this mission should not be taken lightly. There is a chance the Prometheus may not survive this voyage. But courage and a steadfast resolve will prove the most valuable asset in this undertaking. Well, good luck to you.
(He beams out)
Daniel: I miss Thor.

Mitchell: So you're saying that somewhere in an alternate universe I got to second base with Amy Vandenburg?
Sam: Theoretically...yes.
Mitchell: Boggles the mind, don't it?

Mitchell: One more stupid question.
(General Landry glares at him)
Mitchell: Yours was fine – mine is stupid.

Kavasir: I will need the weapon back once your work here is completed. It is, after all, only on loan to you. Temporarily.
Sam: I know! You'll get it back when we're done.

Episode Goofs

SG-1 and General Landry seem astonished when the second alternate SG-1 come through the Stargate despite the fact that they heard the alternate Mitchell's voice.

It is never revealed how the first alternate SG-1 could have known that the ZPM in our reality was not depleted as theirs was.

Cultural References

Mitchell: You guys don’t have beards, so I’m guessing you’re not from the “evil twin” universe.

A reference to the episode “Mirror, Mirror” (s2e4) in the original Star Trek series. Spock sports a Machiavellian beard in the parallel universe.

In that episode, everyone was an evil twin of the Star Trek universe. In this universe, the Federation was the Galactic Empire. The Empire subjugated planets within its realm using fear, intimidation and murder. Murder was also used for career advancement among the evil twin people.

Episode References

Mitchell: assuming of course this is the SGC. (Landry shuts eyes, frowns)
SG-1…Six years ago…wake up in what they think is the SGC…turns out they're not really on Earth and
its all part of an elaborate Goa'uld plot… Pegasus Galaxy… last year…a team from the Atlantis
base… gates through to what they think is the SGC… turns out they're not really on Earth…
its another planet… and they're being manipulated by aliens

This is in reference to episode 2x22 "Out of Mind" . Where the SG-1 team find themselves in a futuristic
version of the SGC, only to later learn that they're not at the SGC but on a Goa'uld ship.

The latter is a reference to Stargate Atlantis episode 1x09 "Home".
The Atlantis team visits a planet with a unique energy based atmosphere, after they use the atmosphere for power to gate to Earth they eventually find out that they are not on Earth but instead are experiencing an illusion under the influence of an energy-based alien lifeform.

Carter: It isn't designed to take you back in time either but it has before…

In episode 2x21 "1969" the SG-1 team travels 30 years back in time to the missile silo where SGC Command was built on, due to solar flare emissions warping the Stargate wormhole.

Carter: We're part of a meta-verse in which individual sub-universes are being continually
generated… our own experience with the quantum mirror proved as much…

The quantum mirror was first featured in episode 1x20 "There But For the Grace of God".
In this episode Daniel was projected in to an alternate reality, where he's dead, the SGC is SGA and the Goa'uld are landing on Earth. Subsequently it was also featured in episode 3x06 "Point of View" where an alternate Carter and Kawalsky use the quantum mirror to travel to our universe.

Carter-2: K'Tau. (Carter and Lee look at her, as she walks in) In that case we introduced an unstable super heavy element in to their Sun's nuclear reaction…

This situation was featured in episode 5x05 "Red Sky" where the SG-1 team gated to the planet K'Tau
and inadvertently introduced a super-heavy element to the planet's sun by having it piggyback through
the wormhole with them, causing a lot of problems for the inhabitants of the planet.

Carter: This is the post-mortem analysis of the P3W 451 incident…
a planet whose orbit strayed too close to a black hole…one of our teams were attempting to gate back
at the same time, and as a result the SGC couldn't shut down the gate…from this end.

This was featured in episode 2x16 "A Matter of Time".
SG-10 is on planet P3W-451 when its sun becomes a black hole warping the wormhole and not allowing the gate to shutdown.

One of the alternate SG-1 teams had Cameron Mitchell leading a team with three Sodan warriors. They are wearing the armbands from the episode 4x03 "Upgrades."
