Episode Recap

Ronon is on a mission with Teyla and discussing her child, and Kanaan’s return to Atlantis to be with his mate and child. They spot a robed figure lying on the ground but when Ronon goes to investigate, the person leaps to life and stuns Ronon. Teyla recognizes him as Tyre, Ronon’s former comrade, as Tyre stuns her.

Later after Teyla recovers and reports in to Atlantis, Sheppard and the others meet with Woolsey, who explains that Ronon has disappeared and there’s no trace of his subcutaneous transmitter. Woolsey wonders if Tyre is deranged but Teyla notes that he could have killed her. Sheppard suggests they get another Satedan to help them: Solen Sincha, a survivor of the Wraith attack. Sheppard starts to head out for Belkan… and then remembers to get Woolsey’s permission. Woolsey eventually agrees, but notes that Teyla hasn’t returned to active duty yet. She says she has yet to decide yet if she’s going to return to the team, but goes on the current mission because of her experience with Solen.

Ronon wakes up tied to a chair in a barn. Tyre is watching him and assures Ronon that Teyla is fine. He notes that they’re the last of their kind, not enemies, but Ronon isn’t thrilled with the fact Tyre set him up last year. Ronon believes aligning with the Wraith would betray the memory of Sateda, but Tyre says he’s blinded by his loyalties to Atlantis. As Tyre takes a drink his hand shakes and Ronon wonders what the matter is. Tyre explains they’re on Sarif Sur where they both almost died when Ronon refused to leave him behind. Tyre says he’s now going to return the favor.

On Belkan, Sheppard’s team locates Solen in a bar and brings him up to speed. He informs them that the Wraith have put a bounty on Tyre’s head for failing them. Solen asserts that Tyre should have chosen true death rather than gone over to the Wraith. Sheppard wants Solen to contact them when he hears something, and they’ll deal with the renegade Satedan.

Ronon suggests he gets help for the ailing Tyre, but Tyre notes that he’s ailing due to the lack of reverse-feeding the Wraith provide. Ronon promises help but Tyre says that help is on the way for both of them. They hear footsteps outside and a Wraith and its bodyguards arrive, as Tyre asserts that he’s saved them. The Wraith notes that it’s been a long time and then starts draining Ronon’s life force.

On Atlantis, Woolsey tries to reassure Teyla, who apologizes for not having informed him sooner about her decision about future duty. She explains that she has to give up her position on the team for something more important. Woolsey notes that he’s had to reconsider some things to when taking a job as Atlantis base commander. He expresses his sympathies, noting that priorities change. Teyla considers his words and Woolsey notes that Kanaan will support her no matter what.

The Wraith drains Ronon to the point of death and then releases him, asking how it feels. Ronon defies him and the Wraith begins again.

McKay shows up for breakfast and spots Sheppard, admitting he didn’t sleep and hasn’t come up with any ideas. They wonder if they’ve overlooked something and go over their information. Lorne arrives to reveal that Solen has info that Tyre has holed up on Sarif Sur and they head out.

Tyre warns Ronon that he’s putting off the inevitable and should just give in, but Ronon figures this is Tyre’s way back in, to offer Ronon up as a sacrifice. Tyre denies it but Ronon doesn’t believe him and declares him a traitor without honor. The Wraith returns and says they’re taking Ronon to the lab to continue the process. Tyre asks for his reward but the Wraith chokes him and then slams him into the wall before departing.

Sheppard and his team depart for Sarif Sur and find Tyre, barely alive. They get him back to the Atlantis infirmary where Keller confirms that Tyre is going through withdrawal. Sheppard has Keller try and save him but she warns that it may be days before Tyre is coherent enough to say anything. Teyla arrives and demands to know why she wasn’t informed about the mission, and he notes she’s having second thoughts and can’t give her the option every time there’s a mission. He notes that Woolsey is pushing him to get her a replacement and that he’ll back her if she stays with the team, but she has to make a decision.

At a Wraith facility on a desert planet, the Wraith commander taunts Ronon, knowing his friends died because they couldn’t withstand the process. He’s confident that Ronon is strong enough to survive the process, and then drains him again.

Tyre is growing increasingly agitated and Keller places him in isolation. Sheppard refuses to allow Tyre sedatives so that he’ll recover quicker. Tyre goes through his agony while Ronon undergoes draining again and again at the hands of the Wraith.

Teyla is taking care of Torren and admits to Kanaan that it is hard to make a choice given the possibility she may not come back and their son will grow up without a mother. Kanaan notes she has a responsibility to Torren and a responsibility to the people of the galaxy. He tells her to follow her heart no matter what to safeguard the future of many.

Tyre recovers enough to speak and informs Sheppard that he knows where they’ve taken Ronon. He insists on leading them into the heart of the facility and insists that he won’t betray them. Sheppard considers the matter.

The Wraith commander is talking to Ronon, and together they recite the Wraith worshipper’s pledge. He gives Ronon a sword and sends him to battle their mutual enemy: Atlantis.

On Atlantis, Woolsey warns Sheppard that Tyre shouldn’t go out but Sheppard insists they need his help and Tyre is trying to redeem himself. Woolsey agrees and Teyla insists on going on the mission. She’s holding Torren, and asks Woolsey to get the child to Kanaan. He quickly goes to find Kanaan when the baby starts crying.

Tyre and Sheppard’s team infiltrate the Wraith facility, disposing of some of the guards. He leads them to the power relay chamber and they plant explosives while Sheppard demonstrates how the remote detonator works. They then proceed further into the facility and find Ronon. The Wraith steps out of the shadows and reveals the team is surrounded. Sheppard orders Ronon to get out of the way but Ronon refuses. Tyre takes Teyla hostage and orders the team to lower their weapons. Ronon punches Sheppard in the face and the Atlantis team is taken away. Tyre then demands his reward and the Wraith welcomes him back.

In Sheppard’s cell, McKay wonders what they’re going to do and if there’s any chance to help Ronon recover even if they do escape. Sheppard insists they’ll get Ronon back. Meanwhile, Ronon advises the Wraith that Sheppard’s team is more useful alive and cooperative if they can be… swayed.

McKay suggests that they try to talk to Ronon alone, since he hasn’t been under the Wraith’s influence as long. They’re interrupted when Tyre arrives to take Sheppard away. En route to the Wraith, Tyre orders the escorting soldier to take a detour. A few minutes later, he escorts Sheppard alone into the Wraith’s presence. The Wraith prepares to turn him through the life-drain and Tyre cuts off his hand. Ronon attacks Tyre while Sheppard guns down the Wraith and his soldiers. Teyla and McKay are free, thanks to Tyre’s earlier actions, and free Lorne and the other soldiers.

The two Satedans fight back and forth until Ronon gets the upper hand. Teyla arrives with the others and stuns Ronon, and Sheppard orders the Wraith to tell his forces to back off. When it refuses, Tyre threatens the destruction of the facility and explains that he placed the explosives for maximum effect. The Wraith, forced with the loss of his tactical advantage over the other hives, agrees and they head out. When the Wraith wonders what assurance he has, Tyre offers to stay behind until the others reach the Stargate, then trades his freedom for the device. The Wraith agrees and his soldiers back off. The Wraith wonders how Tyre could betray them, and offers forgiveness if Tyre relents. Tyre says it’s too late for both of them… and activates the explosives.

Back on Atlantis, Ronon goes through withdrawal. Sheppard goes to see him and Ronon insists he’s better but Sheppard warns that isn’t the case. Ronon promises he won’t come after Atlantis if they let him go, and Sheppard informs Ronon that Tyre died a hero’s death. Ronon goes through incredible agony over the next few days as his friend stand watch. Ronon finally comes out of it and the team brief Woolsey on Ronon’s recovery. Later, Teyla visits Woolsey and announces that she is returning to active duty on Sheppard’s team. He agrees and she goes back to her mate and child. Woolsey listens to music in his quarters. McKay relaxes in a bath and comes up with a brilliant idea. And Sheppard goes to visit Ronon and gives him Tyre’s sword.
