SpongeBob SquarePants

SpongeBob SquarePants is a popular animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and shown on Nickelodeon and other networks worldwide. It began as three shorts on Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards on May 1, 1999, and became a regular series on July 24 of that year. Within about a year it became a major cable TV program and surpassed its predecessor Rugrats in popularity, eventually becoming more popular than that show had ever been. It is now currently the most popular show on Nickelodeon, followed by The Fairly OddParents.

The story takes place under the deep blue sea in Bikini Bottom, where SpongeBob resides. SpongeBob, who is a yellow, porous sponge, is your typical happy-go-lucky character, as he is always cheerful and enjoys making people laugh. Patrick Star, SpongeBob's neighbor who is a starfish, is your average children's show idiot, as he boasts knowing nothing and is often getting himself into ridiculous situations. Between the homes of these two lies the home of the miserable Squidward, an octopus, who is known for being grouchy and playing tricks on SpongeBob and Patrick. Both SpongeBob and Squidward work at the Krusty Krab, a fast food business run by the greedy money-loving Mr. Krabs, a crab, the arch rival of the evil, possibly misunderstood, Plankton. Another neighbor, Sandy Cheeks, an athletic squirrel who normally wears an astronaut's space suit, was introduced in "Tea at the Treedome." She spends most of her time inventing and experimenting.

Extremely funny cartoonRating: 5 likes, 2 dislikes

SpongeBob SquarePants is definitely one of, if not the funniest cartoon I have ever seen. The plot is about a sponge living underwater. Sounds lame, but it isn't. Even though the new episodes are nothing special, and the movie sucked, the old episodes are enough to redeem it. I could watch re-runs of SpongeBob all day, and not get tired of it. Seasons 1-3 are so funny, and almost every character is able to make me laugh- from Patrick, the stupid starfish to Squidward, the irratable squid. Even my mom and dad like the show. A lot of people do not like SpongeBob, and I can see why. The humor isn't the most sophisticated out there, but it still has plenty of in-jokes. SpongeBob's high-pitched voice can also get irritating. I might not be watching SpongeBob SquarePants in 10 years, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was. Read more

Best cartoon ever. Best show ever for that matter.Rating: 5 likes, 4 dislikes

Rating: 10/10

I love this show. It is my favorite cartoon ever and for that reason I'll just give it a 10. It really bothers me when people bash this show. I know it's their opinion, but it still offends me. Alot of people seem not to appreciate season 4. Well, I think it's decent so far and they should just keep airing new episodes. So yeah I'm a big SpongeBob fan. I have a lot of the SpongeBob DVDs, including The SpongeBob Movie. I've been watching this show since it first aired on Nickeldeon in 1999. They should make another SpongeBob movie. Now that would be cool. Read more

Quality isn't nearly as good as it used to beRating: 5 likes, 3 dislikes

Maybe it has something to do with the writers or maybe its because its suffering the same fate The Simipsons are, the longevity=decline in quality factor. The point is, Spongebob, in the last season or so has faced decline in quality. The episodes are becoming more and more childish and ridiculous. Where as the older, were more appealing to anyone of any age, these new episodes are almost insulting. Don't get me wrong, the idea of a talking sponge living in a pineapple under the sea is pretty original, but let the show end before it becomes too unbearable to watch. Read more

Recaps
4x0: The Spongebob Squarepants Movie recap: This was the spongebob movie.. read more.

4x1: Fear of a Krabby Patty recap: Fear of a Krabby Patty:When Mr. Krabs is improving the Krusty Krab "open" times, he notices that Planktons is having his restaurant open 23 hours. Mr. Krabs wants to be better than Plankton, so he opens the Krusty Krab for 24 hours. Squidward is, of course, not happy with this, but SpongeBob is happy to be working non-stop. Then, in the Chum Bucket, Plankton reveals that it's all part of his plan to get Mr. Krabs to open his restaurant for 24 hours and getting SpongeBob tired and tell Plankton the secret formula. Later, in the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob is enjoying his work making Krabby Patties, but likes it too much. Squidward thinks SpongeBob's not normal. Then, Plankton notices that SpongeBob's not getting tired, so he decides to call the Krusty Krab placing an order of over 10,000 Krabby Patties by the name "Peter Lankton". When SpongeBob receives the order he is happy at first. Then, over 30 days pass and Mr. Krabs, Squidward, and SpongeBob are starting to look ugly from non-sleep. SpongeBob doesn't have any energy to make Krabby Patties. Subsequently, he starts seeing everyone as giant Krabby Patties. SpongeBob is now starting to think all Krabby Patties are killer Krabby Patties. Then, SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs receive a flyer for "Dr. Peter Lankton (Plankton). Krabby Patty Phsyciatrist". SpongeBob thinks he needs to go there to get killer Krabby Patties off his mind. He enters the place (which is actually the Chum Bucket in disguise). He meets Plankton there who is diguised as a psychiatrist. SpongeBob lays on the bed. He tells Plankton about what his problem is. Plankton tells him that they are going to do some exercises. First, Plankton says something and SpongeBob is supposed to say the first word that comes to mind. SpongeBob says the same words Plankton says, Plankton tells him that he has to say something different than what he says. Plankton says "Potato" SpongeBob says "Po-to-to" "Tomato" "To-mo-to". Then, they move onto the next exercise. Plankton tells SpongeBob to close his eyes and think of Krabby Patties. Planktons asks him "What are they made out of?" SpongeBob answers, "Hatred". He freaks out and crushes Planktons with a piano. Next exercise: SpongeBob must put a bunch a cards (that have common kitchen ingredients on them) together in any order he chooses. For example: a secret formula. SpongeBob arranges the pieces into the shape of a piano, it crushes Plankton. Later, Plankton decides to use hypnosis. The trick is to make SpongeBob fall asleep and when Plankton snaps his fingers, he wakes up and tells him the formula. SpongeBob falls asleep, but when Plankton snaps his fingers, he doesn't wake up. In SpongeBob's dream, he is jellyfishing when a giant Krabby Patty eats him. Then, he's in bed when a giant Krabby Patty enters the room. The Krabby Patty gives SpongeBob a cookie, pizza and chocolate milk. He turns out to be friendly. SpongeBob wakes up and says he's cured, meaning Plankton's plan has failed. At the end, Mr. Krabs decides to open the Krusty Krab for only 23 hours.
Shell of a Man:Mr. Krabs gets a letter for a Navy reunion. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob about it and also tells him about his old Navy buddies and his nickname "Armor Abs Krabs". The day of the reunion, Mr. Krabs molts his shell, leaving him a fleshy pink mess. With his exoskeleton still intact, he puts SpongeBob in it and tells him to go to the reunion. When he gets there, he almost reveals his identity by telling a jellyfishing and bubble-blowing story. So he goes to leave, but an old Navy friend of Mr. Krabs (Torpedo-belly) wants to punch his gut, to test if he still has "armor abs". When he punches SpongeBob, he flies around the room, cracking the exoskeleton, revealing SpongeBob. When they get angry, the Mr.Krabs pops out (he was watching from the bush the whole time) and reveals himself. He then talks about how he is still the same person even though he is what is is now. It then turns out everyone has had a drastic change of themselves... read more.
