Season one was a success - though, it also had its problems according to fans of the series. Many people felt that the character Whitney Fordman was underused and one-dimensional. Lionel Luthor, business tycoon and the father of Lex Luthor was so popular with the fans that he joined the cast after spending the first season as a guest star.
