Well, I finally found actual "proof" of it -- who is editing/handling the news on this that it's not listed anywhere other than in the "renewed/cancelled for s09" section of the site?
Is everyone here but me ignoring the show?
Just curious. I don't think the show's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it's no worse than many other shows -- I do think they should ditch the "Smallville" name and attachment (Smallville used to be "a few hours" from Metropolis, now it's a short commute for everyone, not just Clark)... and just move it into some other related name -- "Metropolis" (which is what I'd thought they'd do around s5 or 6) but it would still be much the same show.
The show has the potential capacity to segue into Lois and Clark redux (without the marriage screw-up) and/or something centered more on a human-oriented "Justice League" show, without a massive re-vamp. Even if Tom wants to stop playing the role, they could find an excuse to change him out, just by a "passage of time" between seasons (personally, I don't suggest voluntarily giving up a steady gig in Hollywood -- ever. Very few people end one and get another. For every Teri Hatcher, there's a dozen Dean Cain's) |

And it's going to be on Friday at 8. I think this just might be its final run. It's been on too long anyway. After so long a show really has a hard time coming up with story lines. |

When the original creators of the show left a season or two ago, that was a bad sign. While I don't think it's the greatest show ever, us Buffy & Angel folk need SOMETHING... I've been watching it regularly for about five yrs now, and every season seemed better and better, I guess till those guys left. The last 2 seasons have been very mediocre. Guess it's "jumped the shark", though I'll continue to watch. Like I said, us Buffy/Angel peeps...
I know what you mean about story lines, Rebelman, but a fantasy show like this has unlimited material. Even though they film it in Canada, it looks like it may be a very expensive show to produce. The camera work, sets, effects look first rate, which costs big bucks even if they're Canadian. So, if they moved it to another night that means the ratings aren't satisfactory to da Greedy Machine.
Great avatar, btw. HOUSE is my fav show. Now THEY did something very clever & unusual with their writing. More or less getting rid of 3 of "Hugh's" co-stars, and replacing them. They seem to have done another clever thing by having House "work" in that rehab. I was really worried after they used leprosy & the plague -- those are go to's for emergencies only! Should be interesting... I hope. |

I actually think the last 2 seasons of smallville have been some of the best. And I think next season will also be great. |
