I applaud the courage of this family for 'coming out'. I'm not Mormon and this lifestyle would not be for me. However, I find this show to be very educational and I can certainly understand how and why this lifestyle works for this family. There is so much support, love, caring and respect and the children appear to be very happy. It would be a travesty if this family were to face legal actions because there seems to be no abuse, coercion, manipulation or threatening behavior. I think what people struggle with is the sexual aspect of this lifestyle more than anything and I think that 'people' need to get over themselves. The same fears always arise when the topic is homosexuality. This is so ignorant and I think that it is important to remember that neither polygamy, nor homosexuality is about sex. It's about belonging, family, acceptance, love and so much more. As a feminist, I feel that these women are very empowered, because they chose this lifestyle and they clearly have their own ' voices'. I see absolutely nothing wrong with what they are doing and if anything, this family appears to be more loving and nurturing towards each other and especially their children, than almost all of the traditional families that I know. I want to wish this beautiful family the very best for the future. Review posted on Sunday, March 13th 2011 at 6:17 pm |

I've started watching this show and it's so sad to see 3 intelligent women (soon to be 4) prostitute themselves for this man. In the last episode, Meri the only real wife ask Kody how he would feel if she were to find another husband or lover. He told her that was the most disgusting thing he had ever heard. Why? It's alright for him to go from one bed to the other, (in the name of religion) but not for her. This man is a master manipulator and he finds women who are deeply insecure and needy. They seem to have deep insecurities and self-esteem problems. Perfect for the con artist. The other thing that is sad is to see these children brought up in this enviornment. What happens when this guy gets to old to get the young women who can have more kids. Does he start taking the young women in the household? That seems to be the progression with these cults. And how long will Meri, (the only wife) continue to "suck it up" and let him keep using her. Sloppy 4th's doesn't seem to be to her liking and I for one don't blame her. Take your child and run away. FAST. Review posted on Monday, October 11th 2010 at 8:21 am |
