It was a nonsensical move to begin with, and it clearly didn’t work out. ABC shelved its award-winning series, Ugly Betty, for several weeks to test the waters with an hour of back-to-back comedies, In the Motherhood and Samantha Who?.

While Samantha Who? performed reasonably well in its Monday night, post-Dancing With the Stars timeslot, it took a ratings tumble with the Thursday night shift. The Cheryl Hines, Megan Mullaly vehicle In the Motherhood never got its legs on the ground.

So now ABC is bringing back Ugly Betty a week early to gather steam for May sweeps, which should undoubtedly make Ms. Suarez’s fans happy.
