Episode Recap

Sam, Sock, and Ben are trying to track down the newest escaped soul: a 13th century Mongol warrior. The Devil has given Sam a spear as the vessel. Sam figures the Mongol will head for a horse corral to steal a mount. As they go into the barn, Ben spots a rabbit and goes to pick it up. The Mongol drops from the ceiling and disarms Sam, then prepares to kill him with the spear. Andi sends a text message to Sam, and the Mongol flinches back in fear. Sam calls Sock and the two try to corner the Mongol. He throws the spear, disarming Sock, then runs for a horse. Ben tries to pull the spear loose but is distracted holding on to his new pet, and the Mongol escapes on horseback.

Back at Sock's house where the guys are staying, Sam shows Ben posters of Alan, the one soul that managed to break his contract with the Devil. Ben wants to keep the new rabbit and Sam wonders if he's not getting obsessed with his pet because of his lack of a social life. Meanwhile, Kristen tries to do some friendly brother-sister wrestling in bed with Sock, who shoves her out and goes to the kitchen. He spots the rabbit and calls for a vote to get it out of the house. Sam seconds the motion and both of them vote in favor, and Ben's pet, named King Charlie, is exiled to the garage.

Andi is showing a customer at the Work Bench a table saw and soon realizes the customer is a secret seller working for their superiors. Andi tells the guys and Sock goes berserk. Sam and Andi go to the DMV to put the Alan posters up and they realize that Gladys knows him. Sam convinces Gladys to meet with him that night by reminding her that he saved her from Hell.

Later, Sam is in the back of the Work Bench making more copies of the Alan poster when the Devil arrives. The Devil warns Sam that the demons still plan to assassinate him because he's the Devil's son, and that he can't be there all the time to protect him. He tells Sam to get after the Mongol before he adapts to 21st century life, while Sam does a not-very-good job of hiding the posters.

Back at Sock's house, Sock and Sam watch Kristen exercising. Sock decides to take her dancing and drinking and convince her not think of him as her brother. Out in the garage, Ben hears someone outside and goes to investigate. Sam hears dogs barking and goes outside, and a demon flies down to attack him. Ben sets the demon on fire with a tiki torch and it flies away.

The next day, Sam confronts Gladys who sheepishly admits she set him up. He demands Alan's address and after Sam reminds her who his father is, she gives it to him.

Sock and Kristen dance but another man, Topher, hits on Kristen. He ends up slow dancing with her.

Sam and Andi stake out Alan's apartment and discuss about how they can have a normal life once Sam breaks his contract with the Devil. When Andi goes to get some food, the Devil appears in the car and turns on the radio. The news is running a story on a Mongol on horseback attacking restaurants. The Devil tells Sam not to get distracted and to capture the Mongol before the police do. He departs as Andi returns, and Sam drives off to find the Mongol. The Devil watches from the shadows as Alan arrives on the bus and goes inside.

The next day, Sam and Sock meet Ben at a Vietnamese restaurant. Ben has figured out that the Mongol's attack pattern matches the same one the Mongols used to invade Asia. The Mongol bursts in, dressed in a suit, and Sam goes after him. They fight in the kitchen and the Mongol shatters the vessel's spear shaft. Sam tries to frighten him off with his phone but the Mongol reveals he has a Blackberry. Sam manages to grab the spearhead and captures the Mongol just in time.

Back at the house, Ben points out he was instrumental in stopping the Mongol and asks for another vote on his rabbit. Sam agrees to second the motion but votes with Sock against letting the rabbit in the house. Topher arrives to pick up Kristen and Sock grabs a knife, and then questions him about his life. He warns Topher not to have sex with Kristen but Topher doesn't listen. An angry Sock grabs a chair and knocks Topher over the head, upsetting Kristen.

At the Work Bench, Sam tries to reassure a despondent Sock. Ted notices the secret seller woman watching everything and figures she's trying to pick him up. When he offers to go home with her, she has him fired for sexual harassment.

Sam tries to intercept Alan as the latter comes back to his apartment. Alan locks the gate in Sam's face and explains he doesn’t want to get on the Devil's radar. Sam points out the Devil will never be satisfied with letting Alan escape, and Alan needs someone like Sam who knows about the Devil. Alan starts to let him in but two demons attack and Alan runs away. The Devil arrives and destroys one demon, and tells the other to flee and warn the other demons that Sam is off-limits. They go to a bar and the Devil warns Sam that now Alan will never trust him. Sam quickly figures out that the Devil set the whole thing up to make him look bad. The Devil warns him that Alan won't stay out of hell for long, and Sam needs to adapt to his new life.

Sock tries to apologize to Kristen, but she insists all she wants is casual sex with Topher.

While collecting carts at the Work Bench parking lot, Andi tells Sam that she'll talk to Alan and convince him to reveal how he escaped the Devil's grasp.

That night, Ben is looking after King Charlie when the demon comes after him. He grabs the rabbit and flees to the house, but Sock doesn't know about the demon and won't let him in with the rabbit. The guys watch as the demon hoists Ben off into the air and flies away.

Ben wakes up in an old cabin on the mountains, with his skin and his rabbit intact. The demon comes in and sniffs at first King Charlie and then Ben. Finally it says that it admires Ben's bravery and likes how his eyes look.

Sock and Sam are worried that Ben is dead. They start to work up a cover story but Ben casually walks in, saying that he fought off the demon. The guys are skeptical but Ben insists he's telling the truth. When Sock tells Ben to take King Charlie back to the garage, Ben says that the rabbit is staying, vote or no vote.

Sock gets a call from Kristen and picks her up from outside Topher's apartment. She explains that she came over to have sex and lose her virginity but found Topher in bed with another woman. She's eager to have sex and lose her virginity with anyone but Sock convinces her that she's special just as she is. Kristen decides to wait until marriage and asks Sock to help make sure she doesn't have sex with any guy. Ever.

That night, Ben sneaks outside and meets with the demon. It becomes an attractive woman and they kiss. Ben wonders if she's just using him to get to Sam, but she assures him that she isn't. Probably.

Andi goes to Alan's apartment with Sam in tow. They discover that Alan has abandoned the place, leaving crosses all over the place and Post-It notes reminding him not to sin. They wonder where Alan would go that the Devil couldn't find him.

Alan takes a job as a groundskeeper at a cemetery: hallowed ground.
