Episode Recap

The guys are on a road trip and have stopped at a gas station. While Sam goes inside, Ben and Sock go over Sam’s letter to Andi that Sock is supposed to delivery. Sam comes out and realizes that they haven’t mailed it. He’s worried that he’s now been out of touch with Andi for four weeks and since she didn’t get the letter, she has no idea where they are. They drive back to the Work Bench and Sam worries how Andi will take the news that he’s the Devil’s son. He finally goes in and confronts her, and she gives him a box of her stuff. Andi tells him that he and the others have been evicted from their apartment and Ted has fired them when they didn’t show up for work. She leaves without another word.

The guys go to the Brickhouse for drinks and figure their best bet is to stay at Sock’s house despite the fact his mother kicked him out. When they arrive, they find the door locked. Sock keeps knocking until finally a young Asian girl, Kristen, answers the door. She refuses to let them in and the guys are forced to break into the Work Bench after hours and camp out. As Sam fixes the door they broke down, the Devil teleports him to a warehouse and shows him the occupants: Derek McCarthy, former gang leader, killer, and an escaped soul. He’s brawling with a group of similar men. The Devil gives Sam his new vessel, an electric cattle prod, and tells him that he has to recapture not only McCarthy, but all of the men: they’re all escapees from Hell.

As the guys go over the files on their targets, Ted arrives and prepares to call the cops. Sock manages to stop him by threatening to tell the corporate office about how Ted is buying store items at cost and selling them for profit. Ted gives in and agrees to give them their jobs back. The next day, the guys go back to work but Andi is still ignoring Sam. Sock leaves on his lunch break and finally meets with Kristen, who explains that she’s talked to Sock’s mother. Kristen is his new stepsister, and house-sitting while her father and Sock’s mom are on their honeymoon. However, Sock starts to feel attracted to his new family member.

Sam takes the others back to the warehouse and Sock thinks about dating his stepsister. However, two of the escapees come outside and spot them. Sam captures one with the vessel and throws it to Sock to take care of the other soul. However, Sock discovers that the prod takes several seconds to recharge. Sam and Ben manage to hold the soul long enough for Sock to send him back to Hell. Realizing they’re in serious trouble, the guys run for it. Back at Sock’s house, Kristen comes in dressed in a bikini while they talk. While Sock stares, Ben suggests that Sam try to appeal to the Devil as his father.

The guys go back to the Work Bench and Sock and Ben try to apologize to Andi for failing to send the letter. She starts to come around to making amends with Sam. Meanwhile, Sam is busy in the back drawing a pentagram to summon and contain the Devil. It doesn’t work and he ends up drawing a Star of David. The Devil arrives on his own but when Sam tries to suggest he lighten his load. The Devil explains that he’s sired hundreds of children in an attempt to unleash Hell on Earth, and Sam is just one more. He tells Sam to stop whining and gives him another twenty souls to recapture.

Sock suggests they get drunk and cram, trying to find a solution to their problem. They drink heavily and in the morning Ben comes up with an idea: they get all of the souls drunk and then capture them while they’re sleeping. The guys try to steal a beer truck without success so they paint a Work Bench truck with a fake beer logo. Sam talks to Andi, who is hurt and upset that Sam ran away instead of coming to her when his father died. Then when he lost contact, she worried that he might have died trying to capture a soul. Sam asks if they can get back together and promises never to worry her again. However, Andi points out that as long as his soul belongs to the Devil, he can never make that promise.

That night, Sock buys a truck full of beer with a company credit card that he “found” and they park it outside the warehouse. The souls come outside, take the beer, and set the truck on fire. Once they’ve passed out, Sock and Ben lower Sam on a rope into the warehouse, and then swing him back and forth so he can capture the souls one at a time. However, the rope comes untied and Sam falls on one of the souls. He captures that one but the others wake up and close in on him. He runs upstairs, grabs a fire hose, and then jumps outside and swings back to the ground floor through a window. The escapees close in but Sam sprays them with the fire hose and jams the cattle prod into the puddle they’re now standing in, capturing them all.

Once the smoke clears, Sam sees one soul standing on a wooden crate. This soul, Alan, is well dressed and clearly doesn’t belong with the others. Alan explains that he just escaped from Hell with the others through accident and he had nothing to do with them. Sam tries to capture him but the vessel doesn’t work. Alan is happy to hear it and boasts that he managed to escape the Devil. Sam asks him how he did it and Alan offers to tell him in return for the vessel. Sam gives it to him and Alan knocks him out then escapes.

The next day, Sam talks to Andi and tells her that there is a way to escape from the Devil. Alan found it and they have to find him and figure out how he did it. Once they do, Sam will be safe and they can be together. Andi agrees to help him and they kiss.

Ben is eating at Sock’s house when Kristen asks Sock to come into the bedroom and help with the bed. Sock eagerly agree and Kirsten asks him how the controls on the bed work. Sock demonstrates and after a thorough vibrational workout, Kirsten says that she’s glad that she has a big brother. Sock tries to get her not to think of him as a brother without success as she starts a tickle fight.

Sam leaves the Work Bench and finds the Devil waiting for him, full of praise. The Devil offers Sam a ride but his mood goes sour when Sam suggests they go party. He tells Sam to get out and warns that Sam will soon perform evil at his bidding. Sam refuses to give up and the Devil summons up a storm as he drives away, but Sam returns to the Work Bench, unbowed and unbeaten.
