In a flashback, we find Henry accusing Shawn of forging his signature on a permission slip. The principal is fairly certain that Shawn didn't do that, but is persuaded to change his mind when Henry points out the ink bleed spots in the signature, which happens when someone (Shawn) paused to try and remember how to sign the name. Obviously Henry wouldn't have to think about signing his own name.
In present day, we see Shawn and Gus enter the Santa Barbara Police Department. They mistake Special Agent Ewing, a Treasury Department official, with Detective Lassiter. They then learn that Special Agent Ewing, played by Lou Diamond Phillips, has a meeting with Chief Vick in just a minute. Coincidentally, Shawn and Gus do as well. When Shawn notices an attractive woman, he sends Gus into the chief's office to secure a seat in front of the chief's desk. meanwhile, Shawn goes over and works his magic with the woman, Lindsay Leikin, played by Bianca Kajlich. Shawn, however, isn't as successful as he usually is. We soon join everyone in chief Vick's office, where we learn someone is forging American currency and is passing the money around the town. The team is joined by the new Treasury Department psychic, Lindsay Leikin. This sort of news squashed Shawn's plan and ego.
The next morning, the team arrives at a local Home Depot and question the cashier who accepted the forged bills. When Shawn and Gus become bored, they wander off and take a look at the security camera footage. Shawn is disappointed when he learns Lindsay had already been by. When you look at the video footage, you really can't make out much of the man's identity. It's obvious he knew the camera was there. When Shawn and Gus go back to rejoin the other investigators, Shawn tells them that he believes the counterfeiter doesn't wear corrective lenses. Lindsay shows Shawn up by pointing out a scar and an earring.
Shawn and Gus pay Henry a visit at home as they had promised and are surprised to learn Henry wants them to install a wet bar for him. Shawn doesn't understand why Henry would want something from the seventies in his house. When Henry walks away, Shawn and Gus turn their attention to the investigation. Shawn doesn't understand why Lindsay is so good; Gus thinks Shawn is jealous of her. They then talk about the car the counterfeiter used and they come up with an idea.
Going on a hunch, Shawn and Gus drop by a car dealership to ask around, but they're shocked when they find the other investigators have already arrived and are working the case. Shawn complains about how he's not being called by the team anymore. Special Agent Ewing takes a look at the bills the counterfeiter used, and Shawn notices one of the bills is real, but doesn't tell anyone but Gus.
Back at SBPD, Shawn and Gus walk in on a meeting with the investigators and are disappointed when it's clear that Shawn and Gus aren't welcome. They go to leave, but before they do, Shawn mentions one of the bills recovered from the dealership is real and gives the serial number. They then leave. A few seconds later, Special Agent Ewing examines the bill and runs Shawn and Gus down. Shawn tells the team his theory about the counterfeiter running out of money and had to use a real bill.
Impressed by Shawn, Lindsay drops by the Psych office and tries out the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Shawn made with the EZ-Bake oven. She goes on to suggest they work together. Shawn and Gus aren't so sure but are eventually convinced when she offers a few possible clues about a possible location for the counterfeiter's location.
The team immediately rushes to a European hotel, which is the possible location of the counterfeiter. They are able to locate the room, and inside they find linen paper and other incriminating evidence. When Shawn "finds" the linen paper, Lindsay acts a little oddly. She doesn't believe the counterfeiter would use all of that paper. On the way out, Lindsay and Shawn decide to take off together.
In Lindsay's hotel room, we find Lindsay and Shawn talking about what the future holds for them. Shawn's a little disappointed when she tells him she has a boyfriend. Soon thereafter, they begin making out.
The next morning, Shawn wakes up and finds Lindsay has split. He calls Gus and asks him to pick him up. Lassiter calls Shawn and tells him he needs his help. Shawn and Gus meet up with Lassiter who has found the counterfeiter... dead. There seems to have been a struggle, but he was shot with his own gun.
At Henry's Henry is trying the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake from Shawn, but he doesn't think it's any good. He then tries to convince Shawn to quit his job, but Shawn doesn't want to hear anything like that.
To discuss the case, Shawn joins Gus back at the Psych office. Shawn remembers that he "had" Lindsay with the 500,000 bills. He asks Mildred, the stenographer, to read back some transcripts, and it confirms Shawn's suspicions about Lindsay. They rush to the airport and join the team before the feds take off. Shawn then calls Lindsay out in front of everyone and exposes her for being involved in the murder and the counterfeiting operation. She was the counterfeiter's girlfriend. When she learned that he printed 500,000 bills instead of the agreed-upon 50,000, she killed the man before he could leave the country. Lindsay is arrested when her luggage is found to contain a nice stash of counterfeit bills.
Back at the SBPD, Juliet is surprised to see that Special Agent Ewing walking in without a shirt. It initially looks like she's having a fantasy, but she realizes he actually did walk in without a shirt. It seems Lassiter spilled coffee on him.
