Buzz McNab is a police officer for the Santa Barbara Police Department. He's a good-natured guy and a little bit dense, but he always performs his job well. McNab is recently married, and he has a pet cat courtesy of Shawn.
 
 
Madeleine, played by Cybill Shepherd
Madeleine is Shawn's mother, a psychologist who occasionally does psych evaluations for the Santa Barbara Police Department. Upon her brief return to Santa Barbara, Shawn is shocked to learn that she is the one who left his father when he was a teenager and not the other way around.
