Excellent episode. So much was packed into the hour that it flew by for me.
The Sucre/Maricruz storyline was chock full of emotion. But I’m glad to see that Sucre is putting Maricruz and the baby first. Plus, that means he and Lincoln can help Michael out. Can’t beat having the team back together.
One aspect I really liked was how every assumes the other is part of The Company – Michael thinks Whistler is involved with TC, and vice versa; Sophia thinks Lincoln is part of The Company, and vice versa; etc. The whole thing really plays on the title of the episode, more than just the obvious fire getting the water going again reference to the title.
I also liked getting to see Michael in action again. Not only did he save Whistler from a crazy, drug-deprived Mahone, but he got the water working in the prison, thus getting him in good with the guys that run the prison. All of which, I’m sure, will play a part in breaking out. Mahone and Bellick also showed their true colors as they put themselves first and backstabbed everyone in the process of getting what they want. No surprise there.
All in all, great episode. If they keep this fast-paced and awesome writing thing up, season 3 is going to be just as good as the previous 2.
