Episode Quotes |
| |
Brooke: You see me as someone who's popular and has all the answers; that's not true. I may not always know what I'm doing but I'll try to make things better. And when I make a mistake, because face it, we all do, I promise I'll ask for your help. I can't do this alone. But if you take a chance on me, we can do great things together. I promise, if you believe in me, I'll find the courage to reach for your every dreams. (voiceover) John F. Kennedy said the courage of life is a magnificent mixture of triumph and tragedy. A man does what he must, in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures and that is the basis of all mortality. | Felix: You've got the Latin book upside-down.
Brooke: Like I'd be able to read it right side-up? | Coach: Well, I never thought I would see you darken my door again, Jagielski.
Jake: Yeah, I wasn't so sure myself, coach.
Coach: Where the hell have you been, son?
Jake: Looking for a safe place in a non-safe world.
Coach: You find it?
Jake: I don't think it exists. So I figured I'd just have to create it myself.
Coach: Oh, and about that safe place you're building, don't do it alone. There's a lot of people here ready to help. | Peyton: A kiss always means something. | Brooke: I haven't stuffed since I started puberty. | Nathan: Did you kiss him?
Haley: Yes.
Nathan: Well you can go on tour, but if you do were over. |

Analysis |

The Hero Dies In This One
The lyrics to the chorus of the song that the title gets its name from is closely related to Nathan's feelings during this episode. Nathan discovers that Haley kissed Chris, which crushes him, and after they fight, Nathan walks along the pier remembering the first time that Haley tutored him. The lyrics (below) also foreshadow Nathan's future without Haley. Once she leaves, Nathan isn't the same without her and has trouble living without her, but, similar to the lyrics, he finally decides that he has to move on.
As I sit here all alone,
I wonder how I'm suppose to carry on when you're gone.
I'll never be the same without you,
I love you more then you will ever know.
So maybe now you finally know.
Sometimes we're helpless and alone,
But you can let it keep you weighted down.
You must go on. |
