This episode marks Kakashi's first appearance.
 
The scene where Naruto and Sasuke kiss was cut (it is however, later shown in a flash back uncut in episode 17).
 
The other two genin teams were not actually shown in the manga until later on.
 
The teams were arranged like this;
Team 7: Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke
Team 8: Hinata, Kiba, and Shino
Team 10: Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji
 
Another scene cut was the prolonged bathroom scene.
 
It's revealed that Sasuke has the highest grades, while Naruto has the worst.
 
Sakura has an inner essence dubbed Inner Sakura. Inner Sakura is extremely similar to Naruto in personallity and always shows Sakura's true opinion to situations.

Sakura: NARUTO...YOU...
Naruto: It was an accident!
Sakura: YOU'RE FINISHED!
 
Sasuke: Just make sure you don't get in my way, loser.
Naruto: What'd you say?!
Sasuke: Hard of hearing?

Naruto says Sakura called him annoying three times, but she only called him it twice.
 
 
Analysis
  
Sakura and Inner Sakura:
Sakura and Inner Sakura can be consider a homage to DBZ's Launch. Launch was known for having a split personality, one being mild mannered while the other extremely violent and aggressive.
