Zabuza Momochi, voiced by Steven Jay Blum (1)
The main antagonist of the first season, Zabuza was a missing nin from the Hidden mist Village. He attempted to overthrow the village, but was forced to flee because of his lack of man power. He, along with Haku, joined up with Gatou in hoped of earning money to get more followers.
Zabuza was instructed to kill the Bridge Builder Tazuna, who Kakashi's team was instructed to protect. This led to a confrontation between Zabuza and Kakashi which would end with Kakashi trapped in a water prison. With the help of Naruto and Sasuke, Kakashi would break free and the fight continued. A week later, Zabuza and Kakashi would have their rematch on the bridge. During the fight, Zabuza would use his mist abilities to nulify Kakashi's sharigan, but in the end, Kakashi would still come out on top. During the climax of the fight, Kakashi would use his chidori in an attempt to end Zabuza's life, but would be saved by Haku, who took the deadly blow for him.
Zabuza would end up changing his ways after an emotional speech from Naruto. In a final act of redemption, Zabuza would kill Gatou, taking down several of his men in the process. In the end, he would die, wishing he could go where Haku is. |
