On the eve of "Monk's" return after four-plus months without a new episode, the USA Network has ensured that the show will stick around for a while longer.
The network has ordered two additional seasons of its top-rated series, meaning the obsessive-compulsive detective will be solving crimes and avoiding germs until at least 2008. USA made the announcement Thursday (Jan. 12) at the Television Critics Association midseason press tour.

"'Monk' is the cornerstone of USA's original programming," USA's Jeff Wachtel says in a statement. "It remains one of the highest-rated series in basic cable history. We are so proud to bring it to the next level."
