Monk, Sharona, Lt. Disher and Stottlemeyer go to New York City to follow the leads concerning Trudy's murder which was given by Dale the Whale. However, three people were killed, including the Latvian ambassador to the United Nations when Monk and the rest were checking into their hotel.
