Dr. Jack Shephard, played by Matthew Fox
Dr. Jack Shephard was a spinal surgeon in his old life, and has become the "leader" of the Lostaways by default. He was on Flight 815 to retrieve the body of his father, who died on a drunken binge in Australia. Jack is respected by the other islanders, but still harbors self-doubts.
He was once married, but he and his wife eventually became estranged and finally divorced due to his constant need to "fix" people. Jack has flirted with both Kate and Ana-Lucia, and is concerned about John Locke's motives on the island - being a man of science, Jack rarely sees eye-to-eye with Locke, the man of faith.
The one thing Jack has in common with Locke is his willingness to put his trust in people, and to that end was wary about Sayid's warnings about Michael---with disasterous results. |
