  Season 3 (The Third Year)  
The Third Year of Law & Order saw change again in the cast. During the middle of the season Sergeant Cerreta was shot and wounded and had to retire from working on the street. Detective Lennie Briscoe is paired up with Detective Mike Logan which started their rocky relationship. Captain Don Cragen continued to monitor his detectives and help out with cases.

E.A.D.A. Ben Stone and A.D.A. Paul Robinette prosecute those that the detectives arrest for dangerous crimes with the help of D.A. Adam Schiff.

Notable guest stars include Carolyn McCormick (who is credited as a series regular part of the season), future Law & Order: Criminal Intent star Eric Bogosian, Claire Danes, Lorraine Toussaint, Felicity Huffman, Ron Rifkin, John Fiore, Leslie Hendrix, Edie Falco, future ER stars Paul McCrane and Julianna Margulies, and future CSI star Jorja Fox.
