  Season 14 (The Fourteenth Year)  
"The Fourteenth Year" of "Law & Order" was the last for Detective Lennie Briscoe (Jerry Orbach), who had been on the show since the middle of Season 3. Along with Lennie at the 27th Precinct is Detective Ed Green (Jesse L. Martin) who work under the watchful eye of Lt. Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson). On the trial side of the show, E.A.D.A. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) and A.D.A. Serena Southerlyn (Elisabeth Röhm) prosecute the cases with the help of their boss, D.A. Arthur Branch (Fred Dalton Thompson).

Highlights in this season include the murder of a young actress who is found dead in the residence of a Tony-winning Broadway composer, the death of a baseball player who lost the chance for his team to make it the playoffs, and also the moment where Detective Briscoe says goodbye to his co-workers at the 27 and sets off into retirement.
