The far-reaching probe into an old man's death precipitates Assistant D.A. McCoy's (Sam Waterston) most crucial case when he seeks to prosecute a high-level foreign dignitary for the torture-murder of a New York student 27 years ago, and the passionate McCoy is ready to argue the unprecedented case before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is aided by Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin), who discover that the elderly victim fought for decades to investigate the U.S. military's involvement in the slaying of his student son by the Chilean army during a 1973 coup in the South American country. Angie Harmon, Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.
