Capt. Don Cragen [S01-S03; recurring afterwards], played by Dann Florek
Captain Don Cragen is the commanding officer of the 27th Precinct during the first three seasons of Law & Order. We learn that Cragen was formerly Sergent Max Greevey's partner years ago. Greevey is murdered in the premiere of the first season, and both Cragen and Greevey's partner Detective Mike Logan are grief stricken. Cragen also supervised Detective Lennie Briscoe and Sergent Phil Cerreta before leaving the 27th to go and head the Anti-Corruption Task Force. Cragen later re-appears as the Captain of the 16th Precinct that houses the Special Victims Unit squad on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit when the show premieres in 1999. |
