The series follows John Sergeant as he sets off on a 3,000 mile journey taking a look at the history of one of the greatest legacies left to India by Great Britain, it's huge rail network.

John continues with his epic 3,000 mile journey along India's rail tracks. John is in New Delhi, where he learns how the railways' construction story began with locomotives and track being brought from British shipyards. He also pays a visit to Gwalior to learn more about the extent of collusion between the maharajahs and the British Empire.
