Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, and Rob McElhenney reportedly shot the original pilot for $200, though they believe the cost was even less than that. |
The scenes in the opening credits are all locations in Philadelphia: the Ben Franklin Bridge, which connects Philadelphia to Camden, New Jersey; Market Street, which contains many historic sites including the Liberty Bell; Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles football team; the Swann Memorial Fountain, located in Logan Square; Boathouse Row, located on the Schuylkill River and adorned with year-round lights; 30th Street Station, the main railroad station in Philly; and South Street, whose many shops give it the appearance of an outdoor mall. |
The unintelligible sound clip that plays at the end of each episode over the RCH production logo only makes sense when it is reversed. In season one, it says, "You're stupid for playing this forward." In season two, it says, "Is it brown? Is it brown? Is it brown? Good work." In season three, it's a harmonization of "Make it brown." In season four, it says, "Clown baby, brown clown." |
