House: Quid pro quo, Clarice...
House speaks as would serial killer Hannibal Lecter, who first gained wide recognition following Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of the character in 1991's The Silence of the Lambs. An accomplished psychiatrist and stone psychopath, Lecter victimized many with whom he interacted even after imprisonment, with taunts and games. Clarice Starling was forced to play his games to catch another killer, "Buffalo Bill." Here, House compares the question-for-a-question game devised by Gabe and himself to one of Lecter's sinister manipulations. | On his one day of life, Gabe wants nothing more than a gourmet sandwich from a 'hole in the wall' eatery in Atlantic city. This character's obsession with good food is also reflected in the character that John Larroquette played in Kitchen Confidential who wished for the food of Nolita to kill him. |
