Episode Notes

Amyloidosis
Amyloidosis refers to any of a number of disorders of varying severity and effect that have in common the deposition of protein deposits in the extracellular space. Because of their chemical structure such proteins produce a greenish doubled image when stained with Congo Red and viewed using polarized light (as was demonstrated). There is debate over whether the extracellular proteins cause the disease symptoms or are a consequence of some other, as yet unidentified cause. While systemic amyloidosis may be relatively unknown, most people have heard of some other diseases that have this symptom, including Alzheimer Disease, Parkinson Disease, and BSE (Mad Cow Disease) and its human variant, vCJD (Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease).

Episode Quotes

House: Oh, come on. He's old and sick... and tiny. We can do whatever we want to him.

House: Don't go towards the light! You'll fall and break your hip.

House: There was no pain, he was unconscious. I'm guessing... because he wasn't able to breathe.

House: He was about to dissect one of his lab rats when he collapsed. The little vermin seized the day, so to speak, and went medieval on his ass.

(The team watches House quizzically without responding)
House: What, my fly open?

Foreman: (To Cameron) Which side are you on, senator? First respect his wishes, then invade Iraq, then get the troops home. Make up your mind.

Gregory: I want you to get a skin sample for a biopsy.
Cameron: And I want to get a foot massage from Johnny Damon.

House: What's the largest organ?
Chase: Skin.
House: We need to get a piece.
Foreman: Sure, we'll just wait until he leaves his room without his skin, sneak in and take a piece.

House: What have you been doing all night?
Cameron: Jello shots and wild sex, what else?

Powell: Dr. Chase said my calcium is normal.
House: We call him "Dr. Idiot"

Cameron: We're talking about you.
House: Obviously. I'm obviously not.

Cameron: Wait. There's actually another doctor you admire?
House: I admire lots of doctors. Of course, most of them look alot better in knee socks than Ezra Powell, but seeing as they can all breathe...

Cameron: Ezra, what are you doing?
Powell: I dont want to live hooked to machines, to weak to wipe my own ass.
House: Why would you want to wipe your own ass, when you could have someone do it for you?

Cameron: He says no more tests. He wants to die and he wants us to help him do it.
House: And I wanna play a game I like to call "block my spike" with Misty Mae.
Cameron: He's thought this through, it's not an impulsive decision.
House: Neither is mine. He's depressed. He'll feel much better after we cure him.

House: How's it look Foreman?
Foreman: No EKG changes.
House: Then we push harder
Cameron: House, you're going to kill him.
Powell: No, he's right. Let him do it.
House: See, that's why he doesn't have to wear knee socks.

(Cameron escorts Powell onto the treadmill)
Powell: I worked with Williams on the first protocol of this thing.
Cameron: Everyone still uses it.
Powell: Except for Williams. He died 4 years ago.
Cameron: I'm sorry
Powell: He was 84. He died parasailing. He was always an idiot.
