Episode Quotes

Dr. House: Foreman expects me to read an x-ray on this itty-bitty screen. He should have e-mailed me a larger phone.

Dr. House: Why are you packing?
Dr. Wilson: We're leaving this afternoon for the conference on pharmacology and public policy.
Dr. House: We?
Dr. Wilson: We discussed this. It's been on your calendar for weeks.
Dr. House: So has Ramadan.
Dr. Wilson: Think of it as a vacation. Nice, healthy, Adirondack air. Or not. I don't care. You're coming with.
Dr. House: You should come with me. State pillow fighting championships. Dollar beers, wet t-shirts. In the words of the philosopher Eddy Money, "I've got two tickets to paradise."
Dr. Wilson: House, when you moved in, I promised your therapist I'd be here for you. I can't be here if I'm there. Unless you're there, too. So it's not a discussion.
Dr. House: Fine. I'll let Foreman know that the sixteen year old patient with the severe edema can wait.

Dr. Cuddy: Tell me what you came here for, House.
Dr. House: I've got a legitimate medical excuse.
Dr. Cuddy: You must be so proud.
Dr. House: I've forgotten it. I guess it's no big deal, since I was only using it as an excuse to come check out Patty and Selma.
Dr. Cuddy: I feel bad. I haven't named your testicles.
Dr. House: Word on the street is you set a new personal best for low-cut.
Dr. Cuddy: t don't know why you chose to give them the names of someone's aunts.
Dr. House: It's a compliment. They're always smokin'.

Dr. House: You didn't tell me you were giving a paper.
Dr. Wilson: And that is wrong?
Dr. House: Last time you presented a paper, you gave me an advance paper and asked for feedback.
Dr. Wilson: And you're wondering why I wouldn't want to repeat that experience?

Dr. House: Oh, look! A 80s party! Just when you think you've left Flock of Seagulls behind in your rearview mirror, suddenly it's up ahead like an undead hitchhiker.

Dr. House: Remember the last time we danced? Med school. The week we met.
Dr. Cuddy: No.
Dr. House: I saw you. Endocrinology. Trapped you in with a hoedown.
Dr. Cuddy: I meant, we met before that. In the bookstore.
Dr. House: Ahh...
Dr. Cuddy: My... third day of school. I hand my syllabus to the guy behind the counter. He barely looks at me, just skims the sheet, tells me I'm overly ambitious, I have a chip on my shoulder, and I know how to party.
Dr. House: I'd forgotten you knew how to party.
Dr. Cuddy: I said, "You're making that up". You said, "Your class schedule is overloaded, but none of your classes are before 11, and no one takes Professor Lamb's course unless they have something to prove."
Dr. House: 'Cause Professor Seagal covered the same ground and was the easier grader.
Dr. Cuddy: I tracked you down. Endocrinology. The party.
Dr. House: And one thing led to another.
Dr. Cuddy: ...Then it didn't.
Dr. House: I was going to call you...
Dr. Cuddy: Nooo! Don't do that. There was no expectations. I was just as into it as...
Dr. House: I was going to come, see you, figure out where things would go from there. That was the morning I got the call from the Dean and I was expelled from my first Med school. Didn't seem any point.
Dr. Cuddy: (suddenly realizing it's a very serious moment between them, flees) I should... go to my room, review papers for the... infectious disease panel.

Dr. Wilson: If there's one thing I've learned from you, it's that I should do what I think is right and not worry about the consequences.
Dr. House: Yeah, it's worked out great for me.

Dr. Wilson: Yes, you can sit her running up my hotel bill, or you can go get the woman of your dreams.
Dr. House: I didn't know Angela Merkel was attending the conference.

(on the phone)
Dr. Wilson: Hello? Uh... I don't know what department I want. Uh, I need... pants.

Dr. Wilson: That was my paper. You don't ask what I want, you ignore my wishes, you drug me.
Dr. House: I'm waiting for you to name something new to our relationship.

Cultural References

Dr. House: So has Ramadan.

Ramadan is an Islamic holy month. It actually started on August 22 in 2009 (it's based on the lunar calendar, so it shifts each year).

Dr. House: You should come with me. State pillow fighting championships. Dollar beers, wet t-shirts. In the words of the philosopher Eddy Money, "I've got two tickets to paradise".

Eddy Money was a police officer-turned singer, who had a few hits in the 1980s, most notably (I've Got) Two Tickets To Paradise.

Dr. House: I've forgotten it. I guess it's no big deal, since I was only using it as an excuse to come check out Patty and Selma.
...(and)...
Dr. Cuddy: I don't know why you chose to give them the names of somebody's aunts.
Dr. House: It's a compliment. They're always smokin'.

House is referring to The Simpsons, and Marge Simpson's two chain-smoking sisters (and hence Bart, Lisa, and Maggie's aunts) Patty and Selma Bouvier, voiced by Julie Kavner. The reference was part of Fox's Simpsons Scavenger Hunt promotion that was held the week this episode premiered.

Among the costumes seen at the 80s party (in no particular order) are Devo, Madonna, Mr. T, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Ghostbusters. Jane Fonda (Cuddy in workout clothes, though she also looks like Jennifer Beals from the movie Flashdance ), Woody Allen, Karate Kid, and Boy George

The cake is a solved Rubik's Cube.

Dr. House: I didn't know Angela Merkel was attending the conference.

Angela Dorothea Merkel is the Chancellor of Germany, chairwoman of the Christian Democratic Union, and President of the European Council and chair of the G8 in 2007. She is arguably one of the most powerful women in the world.
