Episode Recap

Sondra is cleaning up broken glass from Sylar's attack and asking her daughter if Claire wants to talk about what happened. Claire's mother wonders if Sylar raped her but Claire assures her he didn't and he got what he came for. Claire comes over to help and puts her hand on some broken glass, but doesn't notice the injury. She takes the glass out of her hand and the wound heals normally, but Claire notes that she no longer feels pain… the one thing that made her human.

Angela is dreaming of walking down a hallway in Primatech ad sees people she knows dead and dying before her: Hiro, Matt, Noah, and Peter. She sees Knox holding Claire up against a wall by her throat, then drags her around the corner and emerges with her headless body. Four figures emerge into the hallway: Adam, Maury, Knox, and Niki. Sylar comes up behind Angela… and she wakes up in a taxi. She arrives at Peter's apartment and goes inside to find him constructing a timeline map using string. She tells him that he should go back to the future but he tells her he's busy saving the world. She warns him that due to the butterfly effect, small changes in the past can alter the future and causes millions of deaths. Peter doesn't care, until Angela notes that Claire could be one of those affected. She reminds him that because of his intervention she was in Odessa, and something bad happened to her, then suggests he go to see her.

Maya returns to Mohinder's lab and sees him hanging upside down from the ceiling. He jumps down, easily absorbing the impact of the fall, and tells her he used the serum on himself. He climbs a wall to demonstrate his abilities and claims there's no side effects. He then grabs Maya and starts kissing her and she notes that he is different.

Matt is walking through the desert with no food and water. Unable to telepathically sense anyone nearby, he finally collapses from heatstroke and dehydration.

Bob and Elle watch a video recording of two Company agents, Cruz and Karina, attempting to capture Sylar on a suburban street in Costa Verde. They taser him but he boasts that that doesn’t work any more and then telekinetically smashes them away. Bob blames Elle for letting him get away and ultimately obtaining Claire's ability. He tells her that he won't be putting her in a position where she can disappoint herself or him any more.

Hiro hires a team of detectives to get information on the thief who stole the formula. They come up with a name: Daphne Millbrook. They have her Paris address and Hiro prepares to teleport there. Ando asks if he can come and Hiro considers it, remembering his vision of the future and death at Ando's hands. Finally he agrees and teleports the two of them out.

Tracy Strauss suggests to Governor Malden that he choose Nathan to fill the junior Senator's position. Malden is skeptical because of Nathan's resignation of the congressional seat but Tracy assures him she can take care of it. She notes that Nathan literally came back from the dead and is thanking God, but Malden is skeptical. Tracy notes that he's paying her to advise him and she should take his advice. She leaves for her car but a reporter approaches her in the parking garage. He asks him about a website she ran but Tracy denies knowing anything about it. Unimpressed, he says he's going to go with an article about her involvement.

Hiro and Ando teleport into Daphne's Paris apartment. They spot a number of stolen artifacts lying around, including the Mona Lisa.

Claire is recording herself standing in front of a train track and talking about whether she's human since she can no longer feel pain. She stands in front of the oncoming train as it approaches, but Future Peter (disguised as Peter) soars down and gets her out of the way. She tells him what happened with Sylar and she can no longer feel pain. Future Peter mentions that wasn't supposed to happen, puzzling Claire. She asks him to teach her how to defend herself but he refuses, insisting he has to leave, and teleports away.

Nathan is praying in his hospital room when Tracy comes in. He assumes she's Niki but Tracy doesn't seem to have any idea what he's talking about. She explains that she works for Governor Malden and offers Nathan the Senate seat. He tells her he'll think about it. She walks past Linderman, who she doesn't seem to notice, and he then tells Nathan he should accept the offer. He notes that Tracy isn't Niki but there's a reason why someone Nathan recognizes is offering him the position. Nathan tells Linderman to leave so he can sleep.

Elle comes to her father's office and proposes the theory that Sylar will head for Level 5 to steal the prisoners' abilities. He doesn't respond and when she moves around his desk she sees that he's been killed by Sylar. She goes to Level 5 where Flint, Knox, and Jesse are imprisoned. Jesse is still yelling that he's Peter Petrelli. She frees Noah and gives him a gun, telling him that she needs his help. As soon as she leave the cell, Sylar telekinetically slams her into a wall. Noah shoots Sylar repeatedly in the chest, but he quickly heals himself and telekinetically knocks Noah away. He turns to Elle and displays his newly gained power by transforming the gun into gold using Bob's ability. He starts telekinetically slicing her head open and her electricity runs out of control, blasting Sylar unconscious and knocking out the lights. Staggered, she sees Jesse, who tells her that he's really Peter. Knox gets Flint, the German, and Jesse/Peter out as other prisoners make their escapes as well. As she passes out, she sees Noah dragging Sylar into a cell.

Hiro and Ando fail to find the formula hidden in the apartment. When Hiro acts suspicious toward him, Ando asks what is going on and Hiro explains that he saw the future where Ando kills him. Ando denies that he would ever kill his best friend but Hiro is skeptical. Unable to find the formula, Hiro finds a track medal that Daphne won in high school and decides to use it as bait.

Future Peter visits Nathan in the hospital and is told about Malden's offer. Nathan wonders if he should take it, given that the last time he ran for office he almost wiped out Manhattan. Future Peter says that Nathan is different now, then reveals his true face and explains that he came from a future where Nathan's public announcement caused evolved humans to be put in camps. He hopes that Nathan will forgive him for doing what he had to. Nathan asks him if he should take the Senate seat but Future Peter warns that he has no idea what the new future will bring and then teleports away.

Tracy is in a parking garage when she gets a call from Nathan. He accepts the position, but insists that Tracy work as his aide. She agrees but when she hangs up, the reporter confronts her again. He shows her a videotape he obtained from a friend at the Corinthian Casino: Jessica having sex with Nathan. Tracy denies it but the reporter insists that he's going to run with the story. Tracy angrily grabs him and generates ice, freezing the reporter solid. He falls and shatters, and a shocked Tracy takes the video and runs away.

Elle is watching Sylar, who is under constant sedation and confined to a cell. Angela comes in and says that she's now in charge of the Company. Elle boasts of capturing Sylar but Angela notes that she ended up letting out twelve prisoners who are just as bad, and Noah escaped after securing Sylar. When Elle insists she'll find him, Angela tells her that her services are no longer required. The Company only kept Elle around due to Bob's influence for his daughter. Elle wonders what she'll do now with no money and no livelihood but Angela doesn't care.

Daphne speeds into her apartment and confronts Hiro and Ando. Hiro offers her the medal for the formula but she refuses and tries to grab it. He stays one step ahead of her by teleporting and she seemingly has no choice but to agree. Hiro gives Ando the medal to make the exchange, but she grabs a knife and superspeed toward Hiro. He stops time but she can still move normally and threatens to cut Ando's throat. Hiro gives in and she speeds away. Ando is angry that Hiro put him at risk, but Hiro reveals that he put a tracking device on the medal. He uses a tracking device to show she's heading for Germany, but Ando is angry that Hiro didn't tell him what he was doing with the tracker. Hiro shrugs it off and teleports them both to Germany.

In the middle of the night, Mohinder wakes up in bed next to Maya. He goes into the bathroom and squints at the light. He then notices that his skin is starting to peel off. He removes one piece, which appears to be hardening.

Matt is in the desert and hallucinates a turtle seemingly telling him how to get water from a plant. Matt drinks from the plant, but a man steps up and asks why Matt is talking to a turtle. The man, Usutu, has no cell phone and addresses Matt by name as he leads Parkman through the desert. Usutu notes that Matt shouldn't be there, and that the future he saw coming has now changed.

Nathan is playing chess with Linderman, and Linderman assures him that he made the right choice in accepting the offer. Nathan insists that this time he won't let Linderman manipulate him. A nurse comes in and tells Nathan it's time to go to bed. He agrees as soon as he finishes the game, and she wonders who he's playing with: there's no one across the board from Nathan.

Claire discovers that Noah has come home. She realizes that he'll be leaving soon and he says that he has to track down the escaped prisoners. He shows her the files on Knox, Flint, Jesse, and the German, and explains he's one of the only people who knows how to stop them. Claire wants to go with him but he insists she stay there and says he has brought in someone to protect the family while he's gone. Sandra brings in Claire's biological mother, Meredith Gordon.

Future Peter teleports into Primatech's Level 5 and sees Sylar. He notices the cells are empty, and Angela confronts him to ask what he's doing. She tells him that they've escaped, and it happened because he altered his history. Future Peter explains that he put his present-self inside Jesse Murphy's body to keep him safe. She tells Future Peter to put Peter back where he belongs and then get the hell back to the future. Future Peter teleports away and Angela goes into Sylar's cells. She starts to untie him and explains that while her other sons have failed her, she can give Sylar the love he deserves and that a mother should give to her son. He insists that she isn't her mother but Angela explains that she is his real mother.
