Claire macht sich auf die Suche nach ihrer Mutter, die vor 14 Jahren bei einem Brand ums Leben gekommen sein soll. Mr. Bennet ist geknickt , weil er merkt, dass seine Tochter ihm nicht mehr vertraut. Wenig später erfährt er von dem behandelnden Arzt, dass Sylar die Folter nicht überlebt haben soll...
Claire ist es gelungen, Zachs Freundschaft wiederzugewinnen. Nachdem sie einen Hinweis des Haitianers bekommen hat, suchen sie Informationen über Claires Mutter, Meredith Gordon, die vor 14 Jahren bei einem Brand ums Leben gekommen sein soll. Die Spur führt nach Kermit, Texas - und schließlich erreicht Claire telefonisch eine Frau, die behauptet, Meredith zu sein.
Matt hat die Nase voll vom Gedankenlesen. Alles, was ihm seine Bemühungen bisher eingebracht haben, sind sechs Monate Suspendierung vom Polizeidienst. Doch als seine Frau ihm telepathisch mitteilt, dass sie ein Kind erwartet, sieht die Welt für ihn schon etwas rosiger aus.
Mr. Bennet, der geknickt ist, weil er merkt, dass seine Tochter ihm nicht mehr vertraut, erfährt von dem behandelnden Arzt, dass Sylar die Foltermethoden nicht überlebt hat. Als er in dessen Zelle geht, um nach Sylar zu schauen, findet er allerdings den Mediziner tot vor und Sylar bei bester Gesundheit.
Derweil wird Niki einer Psychiaterin namens Dr. Witherspoon zugeteilt, die darauf besteht, mit Jessica sprechen zu können.
Auch D.L. hat größte Schwierigkeiten. Er ist arbeitslos, pleite und im Dauerkonflikt mit seinem Sohn Micah, der sich nicht damit abfinden kann, dass seine Mutter im Gefängnis sitzt. Doch als die Geldnot zu groß wird, sucht Micah diverse Geldautomaten auf und hebt mit Hilfe seiner Fähigkeiten einen Haufen Geld ab.
Peter bekniet den unsichtbaren Mann Claude, ihn zu lehren, wie er seine Fähigkeiten unter Kontrolle halten kann. Letztlich erklärt sich dieser einverstanden und macht Andeutungen, dass Peter nicht der Erste sei, der bei ihm in die Lehre geht.
Unterdessen verbündet sich Nathan mit Suresh, der versuchen will, Peter von seinen Kräfte-Absorptions-Fähigkeit zu heilen. Doch der zieht es vor, sich in die Unsichtbarkeit zu verabschieden.
Wenig später werden Hiro und Ando von unbekannten Männern entführt, als sie sich auf den Weg nach Las Vegas zu Mr. Linderman machen wollen…

Mohinder: More like a sponge. It’s precisely why I’ve been studying him.

Mohinder: If he absorbs too much or comes into contact with an unstable ability, then most definitely yes.
Nathan: Can you fix it?
| Peter: I think you're the one that has to teach me how to stop this.
Claude: There's no such thing. No teaching. No Sunday school for the special. What I can do, you can't learn — you wake up in the morning, it's there. If you've got thin soup, then that's your supper.

Janice: Are you always gonna be in my head?
Matt: Well, I can't control this thing.
