Episode Quotes

Lorelai: Who wants cheese?
Rory: Are there crackers?
Lorelai: Somewhere in the state of Connecticut, yes, there are crackers.
Rory: And in the Gilmore house?
Lorelai: Who wants cheese?

Lorelai: Hey, you didn't wake me up!
Rory: I set the clock.
Lorelai: Yes, but see the clock stops ringing when you throw it against the wall, giving me ample time to fall back asleep. You, however never stop yapping no matter how hard I throw you, thus ensuring the wake up process.

Louise: I can't imagine having a baby at 16.
Paris: Well then keep your knees shut.

Rory: Did you find our house okay?
Paris: Your street has no sign on it.
Rory: I told you to turn left at the giant rooster statue.
Paris: I thought you were kidding.
Lorelai: No one kids about Monty!

Paris: My mom's redecorating.
Madeline: My mom has measles.
Louise: My mom's having an affair.

Episode Goofs

Sookie says that Rory was 11 when she and Lorelai moved into their current house. However, in "Rory's Birthday Parties" Babette said she remembered Rory living there when she was 10.

Cultural References

Lorelai: What hat?
Rory: The one on your head, Annie Oakley.

Annie Oakley was a sharpshooter who starred in the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show during the late 1800s.

Sookie: (while climbing to the last row) Did you ever see Everest?

Everest is a 1998 movie about summitting Mount Everest.

Rory: This stuff is like Tribbles.

Rory is referencing the Star Trek episode entitled "The Trouble with Tribbles" in which furry, little creatures that reproduced at a fast rate and took over the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Rory: They've just moved off the plan to dump the pig's blood on me at prom.

This is a reference to the pivotal scene from Stephen King's novel Carrie.

Louise: So how good of a kisser is Paul Bunyan anyway?

Paul Bunyan is a mythical lumberjack from tall tales.

Lane: All three of them?
Rory: Double, double, toil and trouble.

This is a line used by the three witches in the Shakespeare play Macbeth.

Paris: And before it's dark, they'll have every picnic basket that's in Jellystone Park.

This a line from the theme song for The Yogi Bear Show. Paris is connecting Yogi being able to collect all the picnic baskets to Madeline and Louise getting phone numbers from guys.

Rory: With the pricking of my thumb, something wicked this way comes.

Rory is quoting a line from Macbeth Act IV Scene I where one of the witches warns Macbeth about his future.
