Yo, Johnny! It's Meatw4d/Meatwadisgod!

Yeah, just got the entire series on dvd and I gotta say it was on a slow decline from the last few episodes of season 3 all the way through the entire season 4. Upon watching a few episodes from season 6 I think that family guy is starting to devolve back to it's beatiful, hysterical, original form.

I think it's always been decent. There are always random jokes on Family Guy only bad thing is they tend to repeat a lot of the same jokes over and over again. However, the episodes themselves this season have been decent especially liked the "Padre The Familia" episode. Then earlier in the season I think the famly went down to Texas (or was it last season) , and I really enjoyed that one too.

Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think.

Those episodes were terrible. I don't think I laughed once. It was all about drama. And it was not well done.

Does anyone want to tell me why joe quag and cleveage looked for evidence in the trash can a YEAR AFTER LOIS SUPPOSEDLY DIED?!?!?!?!??!?

Family guy is starting to look like south park. Less funny, more emphasis on drama.

Because it's Family Guy, it doesn't have to make sense. But I guess that could be a bad thing too.

Family Guy is slowly starting to get better. If you ask me, the newer ones rely too much on crude humor and cutaway gags. Not to mention they're constantly using recycled material to the point where it becomes overkill. Plus, they've pretty much changed every character. I mean, Stewie isn't even evil anymore when you think about it.

I still watch the newer ones though. I don't usually laugh through the entire episode like I use to, but it has it's moments.

Most of the characters are still the same. Stewie is just terrible. Absolutely terrible and completely unfunny now. We get it, seth, he's gay...

Two things that I've noticed are much more common in the new seasons are:

A. Seth shoves his opinions straight down your throat about everything now.
B. Family guy has been a lot more concentrated on references (that aren't flashbacks) that really just aren't funny. They should just stick with the flashbacks. It seems every cut to commercial is a joke that 80% of people don't get. FG used to do references with jokes so that even if you don't know the reference, you could still laugh and keep up with the show. Oftentimes I and my friends feel that we're totally lost in the show with some of these absolutely bizarre references that aren't funny anyways.

One other thing: Has anyone noticed how specific they are when they cut to a flashback? It seems like they describe the flashbacks a lot more before they cut to it now.

I do agree with you that it's getting better, but not better than the first 3 seasons yet. But like I said before, in my opinion, family guy must have a bit of a devolution (example: Stewie going back to evil instead of a faggot) in order to really maintain it's true comedy. For now, I remain optomistic in the future of family guy.
To be honest I haven't visited this board in a long time simply because I HATED season 4 and I thought it was time to stick a fork in Family Guy. But it turns out it's not done.

So here's to family guy: You're on the right track, keep it up!

That is, once the writer's strike is over .

Another thing: What the heck is up with all the annoying 5 minute long song and dance sequences? It seems like in every other new episodes, there's a song which is not funny ni the least and goes on to long. It's liek "OK Seth, we get it. You can write songs." I think the songs are just fillers cuz the writers are out of ideas.

Thats because he has a lot more freedom with his creativity since they brought him back he doesnt have to kiss ass anymore.

But there were songs in the earlier episodes. Probably one song per every 4 episodes id say.

I've noticed that they say "Remember that time I..." or "That's worst than that time I..." (or anything similar) A LOT more than they use to before they cut to a flashback. South Park even made fun of the show for that in their 'Cartoon Wars' episode.

I guess Seth just likes to sing a lot. He actually has a pretty good singing voice.

The songs have always annoyed me though, even in the older episodes (with the exception of "This House is Freakin' Sweet").

And another thing: Is anyone else annoyed how there's always all these jokes centered around Meg in the newer ones? Some are funny, but most are unnecessary and get old fast.

They're doing what all shows do: focusing on the characters and jokes about them. It's hard not to do it, i suppose. Simpsons did, South park did, everyone does. No one really has success doing this in my eyes (plenty of people like the episodes i consider terrible), with the exception of bender from Futurama.

well I've just finished watching the whole season and I don't think I'll bother withany more. Family Guy has become very inward looking and full of jokes I just didn't get. I watch cartoons to be entertained not patronised by some quasi-intellectual script writer who's looking down on his audience. South Park has always been a bit like that, but this is beyond the pale.

Yeaa most references are so crude nowadays, you'd have to be a pop-culture genius to get them. Seth is trying to prove he can write songs, but no one cares. He needs to stop putting gay little songs in every episode.
