Episode Notes |
| |
The only episode of Season 6 that was written and directed by Joss Whedon. | This episode scored a 4.5/6 in the ratings. | This episode ranked 3rd out of 10 UPN shows for the week. | A musical soundtrack by the same name was released featuring the songs from this episode. | Controversy surrounded this episode when it was "accidentally" left off the Emmy nomination ballots. | This episode made TV Land's "The 100 Most Unexpected TV Moments" list as number 44. | David Fury, a co-executive producer on the show, was the man who sang the Mustard song. | Executive Producer Marti Noxon played the Parking TIcket lady. | This is the first and one of only two episodes of the series to have its title read at the beginning of the episode. | "Once More, With Feeling" took approximately 4 months to produce, write and shoot. | This is the first and only episode shot in wide-screen. | The Mutant Enemy logo sings his little "Grr..Argh" saying at the end of this episode, as opposed to just saying it. | For its original airing on UPN, the episode ran until 9:08. Joss Whedon was having a hard time cutting any scenes out to fit the 1 hour time frame, so UPN let him air the whole episode in it's entirety, even if it meant less time for Roswell, which was the show supposed to air at 9:00. | Ranked 88 out of 131 prime time shows. | Upon preparing for the episode, Alyson Hannigan asked to have as few singing lines as possible, believing she had a horrid singing voice. Thus, Willow has the fewest singing parts out of the entire main cast. | TV Guide ranked this episode #14 on its list of "TV's Top 100 Episodes of All Time". |

Episode Quotes |
| |
Dawn: Oh, my God. You will never believe what happened at school today.
Buffy: Everybody started singing and dancing?
Dawn: I gave birth to a pterodactyl.
Anya: Oh, my God. Did it sing? | Giles: I was able to examine the body while police were taking witness arias. | Buffy: So, Dawn's in trouble. Must be Tuesday. | (singing)
Anya: She came from the grave much graver.
Spike: First he'll kill her then I'll save her!
Tara: Everything is turning out so dark...
Buffy: Going through the motions...
Spike: No, I'll save her then I'll kill her!
Willow: I think this line's mostly filler. | Xander: Does this mean that I have to... be your queen?
Sweet: It's tempting, but I think we'll waive that clause just this once. |

Episode References |
| |
Buffy: So Dawn's in trouble. Must be Tuesday.
This is, of course, reference to how Buffy the Vampire Slayer has aired on Tuesday since the second-half of the second season. Buffy cleverly quirps that all her sister's dangers seem to occur on Tuesday. | Willow: (singing) I've got a theory, some kid is dreamin', and we're all stuck inside his wacky broadway nightmare!
This is an allusion to the first season episode "Nightmares" in which the cast were stuck inside some comatose kid's nightmare and were unable to get out of it. |
