Brennan and Booth are called to the site of an explosion in a Miami hotel where a young woman has been burned to death. Initially, the explosion is thought to be the work of a Colombian drug cartel intending to target Judge Dolores Ramos, the Colombian judicial representative. State Department official Alex Radziwill insists everything to do with Judge Ramos and the case go through him, which becomes both annoying and problematic when he stands in Brennan and Booth's way as they do their jobs in pursuit of key information about the case. When fingers point to Ramos' husband and son, Booth and Brennan are shocked to learn who was behind the murderous plot, and how far the State Department will go to protect a murder suspect.

Episode Quotes

Cam: I brought you in to confirm the identity of his wife. She’s the extra crispy one.

Temperance: The debris embedded in her remains suggests an explosion.
Booth: So does that giant hole in the wall there.

Hodgins: I could kiss you.
Angela: That would require permission, which I deny.

Cam: There’s a loop people and I’m in it. Not only am I in it, I’m the big… curvy… part.

(After the controlled explosion was much bigger than they expected.)
Zack: I don’t understand what happened.
Hodgins: Oh, do you know what that proves?
Angela: That you guys are idiots.

Booth:Common Alex, baby steps…. No offense.
Temperance: (Chuckles.) I just got that. It’s baby steps because you’re so small…. (Stops chuckling.) That’s probably offensive.

(Hodgins answers his lab phone.)
Hodgins: Bugs, slime, particulates – what’s your poison?

Angela: (To Hodgins.) You are a man of odd enthusiasms.

Angela: Are you sniffing my hair?
Hodgins: You called it, baby, man of odd ethusiasms.

Cam: I found semen.
Zack: Where?
Cam: The usual place.

Booth: (To Bones.) That was a nice moment. You know, me translating for you.

Hodgins: Mad bomber teenage assassin waitress?

Booth: So, maybe the bomber got caught by his own explosion.
Temperance: Her own explosion.
Booth: Wait, the bomber is a female.
Temperance: Sciatic notch doesn't lie.
Cam: Neither does the vagina.

Booth: Cam, any of your bodies missing a protuberance?

Cultural References

Judge Dolores Ramos: The cartels have been trying to kill me for years. In prison, they would succeed on the first day.

The cartels of Columbia have long been the center for supplying the drugs that have plagued the United States. When government officials take a hard stance at taking them down, the leaders of the cartels often assassinate them to stop their actions and to send a message that they will do anything to continue their business.

Episode References
