While on vacation in the desert, Angela calls Brennan for help in identifying a skull who she fears belongs to her boyfriend, Kirk, who disappeared while on a photo shoot. When traces of peyote are found in the victim's hair, Booth believes the death is drug-related, but clues lead them in another direction -- a counterfeiting ring.

Episode Quotes

Booth: Ok, who are you, Dr. Phil?
Temperance: Who's Dr. Phil? Some kind of expert?
Booth: Pff, he'd like to think so.

Angela: I mean it’s not that I actually think that the skull is Kirk’s, but I mean, if you could just look at it and just tell me that it isn’t, then I could stop worrying about him being dead and just be mad at him for being a flaky artist.

Booth: What do you want me to do?
Temperance: I want you to get Federal on his ass.

Temperance: Wait outside while I get dressed.
Booth: No. Uh-uh. Sun’s been up out there for an hour out there. It’s already the surface of Mercury. I can stand here and close my eyes; eat my donut. It’s the best I can do, okay?

(About the guy holding the rifle on them.)
Temperance: Let’s rush him. He can’t shoot us both.
Booth: How about I just show him my badge so we both survive, alright?

Hodgins: Since you’re only Dr. Brennan’s assistant, without her, you don’t’ carry that much weight around here.
Zack: I’m telling Dr. Goodman.

Booth: Ya know, where I come from, when you say you’re driving a ways, ya know, it means 45 minutes.
Angela: Out here, it means 4 hours.
Temperance: We’ve been driving 5.
Sheriff Dawes: I maybe should have said quite a ways.

Temperance:How long do you think we’ll survive out here if the sheriff doesn’t come back?
Booth: 3 days, max.
Angela: How far are we from the highway?
Booth: 5 days, minimum.
Temperance: I don’t like that math.

Temperance: It doesn’t make sense that the Sheriff brings us to the scene of the crime and then leaves us to die, doesn’t it?
Booth: One God forsaken part of the desert is just as good as the other God forsaken part of the desert.

Temperance: Only Angela could get a ride in the middle of nowhere.

Cultural References

Temperance: ‘Cause we are way past where Jesus lost his sandals.

This is an American expression of being out in the middle of nowhere. As far as can be determined, this is not a reference to any story in the bible.

Episode References

Temperance: …because nothing in this universe happens just once, Angela, nothing. Infinity goes in both directions. There is no unique event, no singular moment.
Angela: I don’t know what that means.

This is a nice switch of characters. Usually, it is Temperance that is told something that she doesn’t understand, usually something about pop culture, and replies that she doesn’t know what that means.
