Complete Season 2
Released On: August 28, 2006
Region: 2
Production Company: Universal Home Video

Description:
Its future now assured, the second season of Ronald D Moore's new Battlestar Galactica becomes much more of a drama serial, with many ongoing plotlines. Indeed, the full resolution to the events of last year's cliffhanger ending stretches out over a suspenseful eight episodes.

As Season 1 ended, Adama had been shot by Cylon agent Sharon, while a civil war within the fleet had been caused by President Roslin's religious visions and her refusal to go along with Adama's orders. Helo was still trapped on Cylon-occupied Caprica, and Starbuck had joined him in an attempt to rescue a religious artefact that might be the key to their quest.

This season expands on the tensions of the first, and reveals more of the Cylons' mysterious plan. Our heroes discover they're not as alone as they thought when they encounter fellow Battlestar Pegasus. But Pegasus' Admiral Cain is far harsher and more sadistic than Adama, and what's more she outranks him. Meanwhile, Dr Baltar encounters a Cylon prisoner who's very, very familiar, and we even see a glimpse into how the Cylons are running things on Caprica.

The cast, carried over from last year, are uniformly excellent, playing characters who have believable human frailties and failings. And the scripts go from strength to strength, exploiting the war movie/siege scenario with depth and intelligence.

It all climaxes with stunning season finale "Lay Down Your Burdens", which sees our heroes seemingly find a new home. But just how safe are they?
