The classic syndicated show is revived by NBC with hosts
Hulk Hogan and
Laila Ali, twelve new gladiators, and updated classic events such as The Joust, The Wall, Hang Tough and the Eliminator.
Al Kaplon was the referee of the show and the narrator was
Van Earl Wright. As the gladiators get ready they are pinned up against one another in a female vs female and male vs male competition. In the end, there can only be two gladiators.
With the prize of $100,000, a 2008 Toyota Sequoia and the place as Gladiator in the next season, the stakes are high as they battle through challenge after challenge. Developed by John Ferraro and Dan Carr, the classic revival of the show lasted 2 seasons. Afterwards, the show was canceled due to drop in ratings.
