Started in the studios of Philadelphia's WFIL-TV, Dick Clark hosted the nation's longest running and most popular dance show throughout almost its entire run. Airing daily in its earliest year and subsequently on a weekly basis, audiences watched local teens dance, Rate-A-Record and listen to all the latest hits and most popular genres of music. The show was moved to Los Angeles in 1964 and featured regular dancers and the opportunity for many musical artists to have their first national television exposure.
